Business Development Specialist

Key Responsibilities:
The Business Development Specialist drives growth for the RDC unit by providing data insights and supporting new funding models. This role involves analyzing market trends, donor interests, and pipeline performance to optimize acquisition strategies. The Specialist collaborates with cross-functional teams to enhance data systems, contributes to funding strategy reviews, and supports proposal development. Additionally, the role fosters donor relationships, drives business improvements, and aligns with the organization's mission and Christian values.
Major Responsibilities
Strategy Development & Planning
- Assist in strategy development and planning by collecting and analyzing data on RDC unit’s strategy delivery and pipeline performance. Provide insights and recommendations to support the creation of new channels, funding models, and methods to drive business growth and improve strategic outcomes.
- Contribute to the semi-annual and annual review of the Ministry Funding Strategy, ensuring alignment with the Ministry Impact, Operational Excellence, and People Learning & Growth Strategies. Provide data-driven insights and recommendations to the RDC Director to support decision-making and strategy optimization.
Data & Information Management
- Collaborate with the Head of Business Development to establish and optimize a data and information management system for the RDC units, ensuring that strategic planning is driven by accurate, evidence-based insights. Focus on enhancing systems to improve data quality, accessibility, and decision-making processes
- Conduct analysis of market trends and donor interests to provide valuable insights and guidance for all RDC acquisition channels, supporting data-driven decision-making and strategy development.
- Conduct ideation workshops to gather field needs and prepare concept notes for unsolicited proposals, ensuring alignment with donor interest trends and key strategic priorities.
- Support proposal development across all RDC acquisition channels by facilitating roundtable discussions to share pipeline and market intelligence, and by maintaining and updating the concept note catalogue to reflect RDC campaigns, products, and emerging opportunities.
Accountability & Quality Assurance
- Support accountability and reporting to donors and stakeholders by provide actionable insights to ensure data-driven decision-making and continuous performance improvement & system enhancement.
Networking & Coordination
- Under supervision of Head of BD, be the primary liaison with Programs, Technical Sectors, and FCS to address data and information needs supporting RDC acquisition channels (Mass, Major Gifts, Corporations/Retail, International PNS, Grants, and Contracts). Lead ideation workshops to gather field needs, facilitate roundtable discussions to share pipeline and market intelligence, and update the concept note catalogue. Prepare concept notes for unsolicited proposals based on donor interest trends, ensuring alignment with RDC campaigns and product offerings.
- Build and maintain a network with market research institutions and other organizations to access valuable data and analysis that supports RDC acquisition efforts. Identify market opportunities for all RDC units, including digging information on calls for proposals from grant and/or corporate donors. Identify potential influencers to promote WVI’s brand, and proactively network to acquire new partners and donor opportunities through events, forums, and digital platforms. Lead initial engagements with donors and partners to explore new opportunities and potential collaborations.
- Together with the Head of Business Development, collaborate with RDC teams to gather and provide market trend and donor interest analysis, offering strategic recommendations to support informed decision-making and effective execution of acquisition plans across all RDC units.
Capacity Building
- Implement the Business Development capacity-building strategy and plan, in close collaboration with Operations, People & Culture, and other relevant units. Monitor and drive continuous business process improvements for the RDC to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in achieving strategic goals.
