**Position Description**:
RTI seeks a Regional Project Operations Coordinator to support project operations in Asia for the Sustainable Growth and Resilience unit. In this capacity, the Project Operations Coordinator will work closely with the SG&R Project Operations Director and technical Division Leads to provide senior-level project start-up management and advisory support to select projects in the Asia region.

This position will require collaboration with SG&R’s Project Operations Management team, regional and home-office business partners including IDG’s Project Management Support Office (PMSO), and is envisioned to be based in Jakarta, Indonesia. The position will require some regional travel.

**Responsibilities**:

**_ Project Start-up Support (50 - 75% effort for 3-4 months)* _**
- In collaboration with the SG&R Project Operations Management team, manage the successful operational start-up of the Sri Lanka/Maldives Ocean Plastics Reduction Activity.
- Execute RTI’s project start-up checklist
- Setting and managing deadlines for team
- Managing and reporting on progress to division leadership and PMSO
- Identifying and escalating areas of risk
- Work with RTI business partners, project leadership, home office Project Manager, and Project Associate to execute key operational elements of start-up including,
- Assisting with the hiring and onboarding of project staff, particularly finance and operations staff
- Coordinating the work of start-up consultants
- Supporting office selection, bank account opening, initial equipment procurement, and issuance of subcontract agreements
- Advising on RTI and USAID policies and best practices
- Other start-up related work as required.
- Position includes 1 trip to Sri Lanka and/or Maldives to provide on-the-ground support (Estimate: 2-3 weeks).
- _**_Project Operations Coordinator (25%; will scale up to full time as start-up winds down)_**
- Provide direct project operations and management support (ideally to projects in the Asia Region), including:

- serving as a project coordinator for 1-2 projects
- serving in surge support/backup/acting roles as needed
- supporting projects to address unique, critical issues needed
- Manage select Project Associates in the auspices of project management team
- Escalate project/regional issues in operational and financial matters to the project operations management team, program directors, and/or division VP.
- Support may extend to projects in other regions and teams if desired.

Qualifications:

- Masters degree and 10 years of experience or Bachelors Degree and 12 years of experience
- Relevant professional work experience should include:

- 5 or more years in the international development sector.
- 2 or more years working as a member of project management teams.
- 2 or more years of experience in direct project operations management.
- 2 or more years managing, supervising, and mentoring staff.
- Demonstrated experience in project administration. USAID or other international donor program management experience preferred.
- Outstanding critical thinking skills and proven ability to identify issues and opportunities, provide solutions, and build consensus among multiple stakeholders.
- Advanced knowledge and experience in field and home office-based project operations management practices.
- Experience with supporting or leading project start-up and close-out activities.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proven excellent interpersonal and communication (oral and written) skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines under pressure, being a self-starter who works both independently and as a collaborative team player.
