Role Description
Green School Bali is a progressive, dynamic and wall-less Pre-K to Grade 12 educational institution located in the lush jungle of Bali, Indonesia, that features many innovative sustainable practices, including solar and micro-hydro renewable energy projects that are taking the school off the grid.
The Upper School consists of the Middle School and High School Learning Neighborhoods within the bigger Green School Bali community. With approximately 230 children across grade 6 to Grade 12, our teaching teams deliver learning programs that are purposeful, inspiring, and engaging.
We seek a passionate Upper School Learning Support Educator to engage our students in creative, purposeful and holistic learning experiences within the Learning Neighborhood. Working in collaboration with the dynamic Upper School team, the Upper School Learning Support Educator caters for diverse student learning styles, in particular those who have identified learning needs, by applying a wide range of teaching techniques.
This person will be excited by the prospect of working in a dynamic environment that responds to the needs of its learners (as individuals and as a collective) and their environment. This person will be energized by—and inspire others towards—the possibilities of blending multiple disciplines into learning experiences that recognize interconnectedness to cultivate ethics of sustainability and approaches [to/as/with] the world to contribute to the thriving of all life.
AS AN EDUCATOR, ARE YOU?
Position Criteria
- Minimum of five years of post-qualification work in the specific area of learning support. Experience with an internationally used and recognised curriculum preferred.
- Prior experience in supporting and mentoring other educators, a role-model for colleagues in the country(ies) where you have worked.
- Conviction that all learners have needs and that we must cater to individual strengths and nurture areas of development
- Ability to design and implement Individual Support Plans for students. Communicate with teachers so they are able to implement the plan with success.
- Must have a high level of English proficiency, but native fluency is not required. (If not a native speaker of English, then presentation of IELTS and TOEFL examination scores in the application process is helpful.)
- Prior expatriate teaching or working experience preferred with evidence of cultural integration, competency, and language acquisition.
- Should have experience and skills in using and explaining holistic or other non-traditional curriculum models and how that relates to curriculum development, overall class planning and an individual child's development in that context across the learning experiences.
- Can provide evidence of positive, professional communications and conflict management resolution skills and resiliencies (through written and verbal communication skills).
- Resilience and emotional intelligence.
- Show evidence of exemplary strategies and techniques that meet the needs of individual students, groups, and/or classes/groups of students in a highly responsive and inclusive manner.
- Have strong, creative and optimistic ideas and implementation strategies for Behavior Management.
- Must be able to reflect critically upon professional experiences in order to enhance professional effectiveness, contribute to the development of a learning community, as well as engage in a variety of professional learning activities that promote and/or enhance the development of that learning community.
- Participate in curriculum development and/or programme teamwork, and provide leadership in the school by assuming a key role in school development processes.
- Establish partnerships with students, colleagues, parents, as well as facilitate teamwork within the school community to support student learning.
- Show an optimistic attitude toward parent engagement and interaction.
- Is consistent in establishing and nurturing relationships with students, peers, parents, and the wider community.

TAKES RESPONSIBILITY FOR
- Inspiring, guiding and instilling a love of learning and a sense of confidence in students
- Ensuring all educators are aware and have access to Individual Support Plans
- Designing, documenting, and implementing creative, thematic, experiential, as well as proficiency-based units of study based on the Green School Learning Framework
- Organising lessons so they are accessible to all students
- Delivering small group and individualized differentiated instruction as needed, providing support for all students
- Maintaining clear, accurate, and accessible assessment records
- Following the routines and expectations of the School
- Promoting the School's mission statement, vision and values
- Engaging in regular and clear communication with parents
- Leading or assisting after-school activities and supervisory requirements throughout the school year
- Participating in Green School's joyous community events and serve on committees as requested

Other Requirements (by Indonesian Law)
- Must hold at least a Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, or a related field, with a preference for qualifications in Special Education, Learning Support, or Educational Psychology
- Must have experience teaching in that field for a minimum of 5 years.
- Must be able to pass a HIV test (legally required).
- Must not have any previous criminal convictions (legally required).
- Must not have any Child Protection concerns on file at previous schools or workplaces.
- Must be able to provide an original copy of certifications, transcripts, diploma and/or degrees (legally required).
- Any successful candidate must be willing to learn and communicate in Bahasa Indonesia.
