Role Description

Green School Bali is looking for a passionate and experienced Lower School Counselor to engage our students in holistic social-emotional learning experiences to work in collaboration with the dynamic Early Years and Primary School teaching teams.

The Lower School consists of the Early Years and Primary School Learning Neighborhoods within the bigger Green School Bali community - with approximately 230 children across Pre-K to grade 5, our teaching teams deliver learning programs that are purposeful, inspiring and engaging.

Position Criteria

  • Minimum of five years of post-qualification work in the specific area as a Counselor.
  • Prior experience in supporting and mentoring other educators, a role-model for colleagues in the country(ies) where you have worked.
  • Experience with the development and implementation of Social-Emotional Curriculum across grades. 
  • Will be a lead in the development and implementation (teaching) of the SEL curriculum
  • Prior experience and expertise with running parent workshops and education sessions across a range of topics.
  • Must have a high level of English proficiency.
  • Prior expatriate teaching or working experience preferred with evidence of cultural integration, competency and language acquisition.
  • Experienced in supporting students and working as part of a wider team with Safeguarding and Child Protection concerns
  • Able to provide evidence of positive, professional communications and conflict management resolution skills and resiliencies (through written and verbal communication skills).  
  • Resilience and emotional intelligence.
  • Show evidence of exemplary strategies and techniques that meet the needs of individual students, groups, and/or classes/groups of students in a highly responsive and inclusive manner.
  • Be able to lead and model the principles of restorative practices and restorative justice.
  • Establish partnerships with students, colleagues, parents, as well as facilitate teamwork within the school community to support student social-emotional wellbeing.
  • Show an optimistic attitude toward parent engagement and interaction.
  • Is consistent in establishing and nurturing relationships with students, peers, parents, and the wider community.

Responsibilities:

  • Driving the improvement and development of social-emotional programmes and curriculum for students and staff. 
  • Understanding the emotional and developmental needs of Lower School students and supporting the relationships with their parents;
  • Providing direct, responsive services to individuals as well as group counseling with an approach that is restorative and strengths-based; significant small group, and some whole class teaching will be included in the role.
  • Establishing and nurturing relationships with students, peers, parents, and the wider community.
  • Inspiring, guiding and instilling a love of learning and a sense of confidence in students
  • Demonstrated experience on a Child Protection team (including managing procedures and trainings - alongside the other Counselors and Leadership Team); 
  • Highly skilled communication of sensitive information (both verbally and in writing);  
  • Being willing to use expertise to support the admissions process to help ensure that Green School can meet the needs of the children enrolled;

Other Requirements (by Indonesian Law)

  • Must hold at least a Bachelor degree in Counseling, Psychology or other related field
  • Must have experience teaching in that field for a minimum of 5 years.  
  • Must be able to pass a HIV test (legally required).
  • Must not have any previous criminal convictions (legally required).
  • Must not have any Child Protection concerns on file at previous schools or workplaces.
  • Must be able to provide an original copy of certifications, transcripts, diploma and/or degrees (legally required).
  • Any successful candidate must be willing to learn and communicate in Bahasa Indonesia.
