Business Development Manager – General Trade

Responsible for developing and executing strategic business initiatives to grow revenue, expand market share, and strengthen brand presence within the general trade (GT) segment. This role ensures the achievement of sales targets, manages key distributors and retail networks, and leads the GT team to deliver business objectives effectively.
Key Responsibilities:Business Strategy & Development
Develop and execute GT business plans to achieve sales, distribution, and profitability targets.
- Identify new business opportunities, market trends, and potential areas for expansion.
- Analyze sales performance and market data to optimize product placement and distribution strategies.
Sales Management
Manage and monitor sales activities across distributors, sub-distributors, and retailers.
- Ensure effective trade coverage, pricing control, and product availability in all GT channels.
- Lead negotiations and establish long-term relationships with key partners and customers.
Market Expansion & Execution
Plan and execute trade programs, promotions, and merchandising strategies to increase sell-out.
- Coordinate with the marketing team to ensure alignment between sales execution and brand campaigns.
- Evaluate GT performance by region and take corrective actions to improve sales efficiency.
Team Leadership & Collaboration
Lead, train, and motivate GT sales teams to achieve monthly and annual targets.
- Set clear performance KPIs and ensure continuous team development.
- Collaborate with supply chain, finance, and marketing departments to ensure smooth operations.
Reporting & Analysis
Prepare periodic sales reports, market analysis, and competitor monitoring.
- Provide strategic insights to management for decision-making and business planning.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in General Trade (FMCG or Consumer Goods) with at least 2 years in a managerial position.
- Proven track record of achieving sales growth and expanding distribution channels.
- Strong understanding of GT operations, distributor management, and market dynamics.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.
- Willing to travel and manage multiple regions if required.
