**Duties**:
The Political Assistant for Security Affairs works within the Political Section’s Security Unit and is supervised by the Counter Terrorism (CT) Policy Officer. Basic functions of the position are as follows:
- Identifies issues for research, analysis, and reporting. Collects, analyzes, and interprets data relating to Post’s Countering Violent Extremism (CVE) projects and CT policy. Supports as needed on Foreign Military Financing (FMF), International Military Education and Training (IMET) budget requirements, defense trade controls, maritime security, and cyber security issues.
- Coordinates many Political Section and Security Policy Unit activities, including interagency cooperation, special projects, biographical files, and visit schedules.

EXPERIENCE: At least three years’ work experience in government, journalism, research and analysis, education, or international affairs is required.

Bachelor’s degree of political science, law, international affairs, international relations, journalism, foreign policy, public policy, sociology, psychology, philosophy, and/or history is required.

For EFMs, benefits should be discussed with the Human Resources Office.
The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.
