- The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is the leading global environmental authority that sets the global environmental agenda, promotes the coherent implementation of the environmental dimension of sustainable development within the United Nations system, and serves as an authoritative advocate for the global environment. The overall objective of UNEP's Climate Change Division is to deliver effective strategic guidance and high-impact action in support of the transition towards climate stability. Its work is guided by ambition, innovation, credible science, and alignment to global climate goals and needs of individual countries. The Climate Change Division works with Members States and Partners to accelerate and support a just transition by addressing climate change mitigation and adaptation through enhancing implementation capacity, provision of data information and knowledge, access to finance and technology, and building resilience. It promotes sustainable development and effective policies for climate stability; support action so that countries progress on decarbonization, dematerialization, and resilience pathways in line with their climate commitments, aspirations, and needs; and foster transparency in reporting. This National Officer post is in UNEP's Climate Change Division, Mitigation Branch, Global Environment Facility (GEF) Climate Mitigation Unit, in Jakarta, Indonesia. Reporting directly to the GEF Programme Management Officer (Task Manager) and under the overall supervision of the Head of the GEF Climate Mitigation Unit, the National Officer will be responsible for the following duties:

- Responsibilities
- Facilitate the coordination with partners in the development of new projects and organizing meetings for stakeholder consultations. - Liaising with internal and external partners to identify relevant and eligible project concepts. - Support organizing the project inception meetings with a view to ensure project implementation readiness. - Participates in or lead field missions, including provision of guidance to external consultants, government officials and other parties and drafting mission summaries. - Liaise with the government partners to facilitate the internalization, inception and successful implementation of project. - Reviewing project outputs, providing technical input and ensuring quality standards are met. - Support regular monitoring project progress and performance and rating progress towards meeting project objectives; project execution progress, quality of project monitoring and evaluation, and risk. - Support the Task Manager in assessing and identifying projects at risk, providing recommendations and managing corrective actions;
- Promptly informing management of any significant risks or project problems and taking action and following up on decisions made. - Follow up and ensure timely submission of monitoring reporting by project executing partners and providing prompt feedback on the contents of the report. - Support preparation of reports in accordance with GEF and UN Environment requirements. - Maintaining adequate project-related documentation and providing input to the risk management system of the unit. - Assisting with the preparation of project revisions, ensuring that project revision documentation is complete and in accordance with UN Environment requirements. - Support mandatory project(s) mid-term review and the project terminal evaluation. - Coordinates activities related to budget and funding (programme/project preparation and submissions, progress reports, financial statements) and prepares related documents/reports (pledging, work programme, programme budget). - Collects and analyzes data to identify trends or patterns and provide insights through graphs, charts, tables and reports using data visualization methods to enable data-driven planning, decision-making, presentation and reporting. - Ensures that requirements, background information used for data analysis are documented. - Performs other duties as required.

- Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in Development Studies, Environmental Studies, Engineering, Economics or a related field is required. A first-level university degree in combination with qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. Successful completion of both degree and non-degree programs in data analytics, business analytics or data science programs is desirable.
