Masdar is the UAE's clean energy champion and one of the largest companies of its kind in the world, advancing the development and deployment of renewable energy and green hydrogen technologies to address global sustainability challenges. Masdar is jointly owned by Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), Mubadala Investment Company (Mubadala), and Abu Dhabi National Energy Company (TAQA), and under this ownership the company is targeting a renewable energy portfolio capacity of at least 100 gigawatts (GW) by 2030 and an annual green hydrogen production capacity of up to 1 million tonnes by the same year.

Job Description

Purpose for this job:

To manage Masdar's presence and growth in the country and the region through being the focal point for all relevant stakeholder relationships, and through actively contributing to business development and investment opportunities and activities as well as managing existing assets and projects in the assigned geography in order to contribute to enhancing and strengthening Masdar's and Abu Dhabi's presence, image, reputation and impact in the assigned regions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support in developing and delivering the annual operational business plans and KPIs for the unit and contribute to performance monitoring and reporting for the unit so that overall objectives are met.
  • Manage and oversee the office activities and interactions with local advisors to meet local and statutory requirements.
  • Oversee the cash management of the office and manage the project cash call requirements in coordination with Masdar HQ.
  • Lead the execution of the required activities while optimizing the utilization of resources.
  • Ensure office activities alignment against approved office strategy and business plan.
  • Perform relevant research to support informed decision making.
  • Contribute to business development and investment activities in the assigned geography.
  • As a country representative for Masdar in the country, actively contribute and support with different aspects of business development and investments as required by the Masdar HQ management. This includes and is not limited to:
  • Identify and recommend new business opportunities and partnerships for the portfolio in the assigned geography, including new service categories.
  • This includes searching for, and making first contact with new and interesting companies.
  • Provide input for relevant country strategies.
  • Support with the establishment of Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs) as and when required by management.
  • Contribute to business development and investment activities and tasks in the defined geography to ensure objectives are met, Masdar's interests are safeguarded and compliance with international principles of corporate governance and standards, and Masdar requirements.
  • Provide recommendations and advice through business development stage and ensure coordination, communication, and collective outputs.
  • Deliver and monitor achievement of project development milestones in coordination with consultants, contractors, and team members.
  • Manage and oversee projects in the country including preparing and agreeing project specifications, budgets, and timelines with contractors, clients or other stakeholders, throughout development, construction and operation phases.

Manage relationships with stakeholders and strategic partners

  • Lead all discussions on behalf of Masdar during the different phases (development, delivery and operations) in line with plans and objectives.
  • Manage relationships with government stakeholders on behalf of Masdar.
  • Oversee and review all external submissions and letters, documentation and reporting to stakeholders such as government authorities.
  • Represent Masdar in relevant events & conferences subject to Masdar's approval.
  • Manage relationships with key stakeholders in the country in order to ensure objectives are achieved whilst safeguarding Masdar's best interests.
  • Drive the implementation of consistent and coherent governance processes, supported by appropriate methods and controls.
  • Ensure achievement of business objectives, and compliance with Masdar Policies, Procedures and Standards.
  • Drive the implementation of cost efficiencies and savings as and where possible to contribute to overall business efficiency.
  • Oversee the management and preparation of related documentation for Board meetings, shareholder meetings and steering committee meetings.
  • Oversee the overall office management and administrative activities in line with relevant standards and procedures.

Team Management and Supervision:

  • Organize and supervise the activities and work of the team to ensure that all work is carried out in an efficient manner which is consistent with operating policies and procedures.
  • Manage the team by overseeing their performance management, recruitment, training and development to ensure high levels of engagement and competence and motivated work environment.

Managing Budget:

  • Manage the Company's performance and daily operations and meet the requirements of the Company in line with the Company's shareholders' expectations.
  • Contribute to recommending and monitoring the unit budget yearlong so that the business is aware of areas of unsatisfactory performance against the budget and so that performance improvement opportunities are capitalized upon.

Management of stakeholders and third-party service providers:

  • Ensure relationships with service level providers are managed smoothly and effectively in a way that guarantees that Masdar is provided with quality and timely services, in line with relevant service level agreements.
  • As and when required by management, personally manage key relationships/negotiations with relevant internal and external stakeholders in order to ensure the negotiation and agreement of favourable deals and agreements that safeguard Masdar's best interests while ensuring the delivery of necessary needs/goals.
  • Support the development and execution of the strategic plan for the O&M business, ensuring alignment with MSTS's overall objectives.
  • Assist in identifying new opportunities for the growth and development of the O&M business by providing local necessary data.
  • Assist in overseeing the operations and maintenance of assets, ensuring they are maintained for maximum efficiency, safety, and reliability.
  • Support efforts to maintain assets in accordance with industry standards, helping to minimize downtime and improve performance.
Qualifications

Preferred Experience:

  • At least 10 years of experience within the energy sector including exposure to business development and investment, asset management as well as key stakeholder management.
  • Strong knowledge of the country market and Asia Pacific region market.
  • Successful track record of project origination, development and acquisition.

  • Languages:
    • Bahasa Indonesia (would be an Advantage) and English.

Position is to be based in Indonesia.
