About the Role

Tailana is a boutique, off-grid island resort with a dive centre, undergoing significant upgrades. We are seeking a hands-on, high-standards General Manager to lead daily operations, enhance guest experience, and drive future development. This is a unique opportunity to live and work in a stunning natural setting, deeply connected to nature.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead daily resort operations (front office, F&B, housekeeping, maintenance, guest relations).

  • Build, train and motivate a team of approximately 10+ staff; establish standard operating procedures (SOPs) and performance targets.

  • Manage the entire guest experience, resolving issues quickly and gracefully. Oversee budgets, purchasing, inventory, and monthly financial reporting.

  • Manage small building projects and upgrades (contractors, timelines, quality control).

  • Collaborate with designers to maintain a refined, nature-led aesthetic, Ubud style.
  • Ensure safety, sustainability and compliance in a remote island environment.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • 3–5+ years in hospitality/tourism with proven management responsibility (team of 10+). Preferably, candidates should have experience at the second level beneath a General Manager and be ready to advance to a GM position.

  • Experience in boutique hotels/resorts, particularly Bali/Ubud-style or design-forward properties, is a strong advantage.

  • Demonstrated success in improving standards and executing small-scale renovations or upgrades.

  • Strong leadership, communication, and teamwork skills.

  • Fluent English (spoken & written).

  • Experience with reservation systems and basic office software (e.g., MS Office/Google Workspace).

  • Ability to thrive in remote, simple living conditions (natural environment, limited amenities, no A/C, but ocean breeze).

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive salary based on experience + performance bonuses tied to resort results.
  • Rotation: Approximately 5 months on / 1 month off.
  • Travel: 2 fully covered round-trips per year to/from Medan.
  • Leave: Two fully covered off-site leaves (one month each) per year.
  • Provided: Meals and on-site accommodation.
