EAL Specialist (PYP) Primary Years Program (national)

The PYP EAL Specialist will design and deliver high-impact English language development through a blend of push-in co-teaching, small-group intervention, and short-cycle progress monitoring—ensuring every child accesses a rich, inquiry-driven PYP curriculum. The role partners closely with classroom teachers, the PYP Coordinator, and families to build a whole-school culture of language-rich learning.

Key Responsibilities
  • Co-plan & co-teach with homeroom/specialist teachers to embed language objectives in unit plans and daily lessons, aligned with the IB PYP framework.
  • Differentiate instruction using WIDA ELD, SIOP, and other research-based models.
  • Screen, place, and monitor students using diagnostic, formative, and summative assessments.
  • Track progress with short data cycles and communicate growth.
  • Coach teachers in language-development strategies.
  • Partner with families to support literacy at home.
  • Contribute to IB documentation and evaluation requirements.
  • Uphold child-protection and inclusion policies.
Background Experiences
  • Proven success accelerating literacy for early/primary multilingual learners.
  • Experience applying co-teaching models effectively in primary settings.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with teachers and families to support language development.
  • Familiarity with international school or IB PYP environments preferred.
Professional & Educational Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Education or related field plus a recognized ESL/EAL qualification. (Master's Degree preferred)
  • Minimal Experience = 2 years
  • Fluency with WIDA/CEFR-aligned progressions and assessment tools.
  • Knowledge of research-based instructional models for multilingual learners (SIOP, GLAD, etc.).
  • IB PYP training or experience is highly desirable.
  • Bahasa Indonesia proficiency for effective family partnership is an advantage.
