Requirement

  • 1-2 years of experience in a role focused on WAN connectivity, such as a Transport Engineer, Carrier Management Engineer, or senior NOC Engineer.

  • Direct experience working with and managing relationships with ISPs and telecommunication carriers.

  • Strong, practical knowledge of WAN transport technologies, including Metro Ethernet, dedicated internet access, broadband (FTTH/DOCSIS), and cellular (4G/LTE/5G).

  • Proficient in troubleshooting end-to-end network connectivity across multi-vendor and multi-carrier environments.

  • Solid understanding of routing protocols (BGP is essential) and how they are used for internet peering and transit.

  • Experience with network performance monitoring tools (e.g., ThousandEyes, Kentik, PRTG).

  • Industry certifications such as CCNA, JNCIA, or carrier-specific certifications.

  • Understanding of how SD-WAN technology interacts with and depends on the underlying network transport.

  • Familiarity with carrier ordering and provisioning portals.

Job Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary technical liaison with telecommunication carriers and Internet Service Providers. Manage circuit provisioning, turn-up, and testing.

  • Lead the diagnosis and resolution of complex connectivity issues related to the transport layer, including last-mile problems, peering issues, and core network outages.

  • Continuously monitor the quality of all network links, tracking key metrics like latency, jitter, and packet loss. Ensure carrier performance adheres to SLAs and drive resolution for any deviations.

  • Collaborate with pre-sales and the Device Service Engineer to evaluate and recommend the optimal connectivity solutions (e.g., dedicated fiber, broadband, 4G/5G) for new customer deployments.

  • Maintain a detailed inventory of all network circuits, including carrier information, contract details, and technical specifications.

  • Manage technical escalations with carriers during service disruptions and coordinate incident response efforts to ensure rapid service restoration.
