Job Purpose

Stock Preparation Manager is responsible for planning, managing, and optimizing all stock preparation processes for industrial brown paper production to ensure consistent pulp quality, cost efficiency, operational reliability, and compliance with safety and environmental standards.

Job Description:

  • Lead and manage all stock preparation operations including pulping, screening, cleaning, refining, blending, and approach flow systems for brown paper grades.
  • Ensure stable pulp quality (freeness, consistency, fiber composition, contamination control) in line with machine requirements and product specifications.
  • Optimize usage of OCC, mixed waste paper, and other furnish types to achieve cost efficiency and quality targets.
  • Coordinate closely with Paper Machine, Quality Control, Utilities, and Maintenance teams to ensure smooth and continuous production.
  • Monitor and control key process parameters, chemical dosing, energy consumption, and fiber losses.
  • Drive process improvement initiatives to increase yield, reduce rejects, minimize downtime, and improve overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
  • Ensure strict implementation of safety, housekeeping (5S), and environmental compliance within the stock preparation area.
  • Lead troubleshooting activities for process upsets, quality deviations, and equipment issues.
  • Manage and develop section personnel, including supervisors and operators, through training, coaching, and performance evaluation.
  • Support capital projects, modifications, and commissioning of new equipment related to stock preparation systems.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Pulp & Paper Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 8–12 years of experience in stock preparation operations within the pulp & paper industry, preferably brown paper or packaging grades.
  • Strong hands-on knowledge of OCC-based stock preparation systems, including screening, cleaning, and refining technologies.
  • Proven leadership experience managing operational teams in a mill environment.
  • Solid understanding of process control, quality systems, and production cost optimization.
  • Familiar with safety, environmental, and industrial standards applicable to pulp and paper manufacturing.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
