Recognized as a leader in the REDD+ sector, Wildlife Works is the first company to achieve verification under the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) and the Climate Community and Biodiversity Standard (CCB). Wildlife Works is currently managing a robust pipeline of prospective REDD+ projects in Indonesia and is expanding to meet the demand and interest in its innovative approach to biodiversity and forest conservation.
**Job Summary
The Communications Specialist will manage external and internal communications and promote a positive public image and control the dissemination of information about PT Wildlife Work Indonesia. This includes managing the sourcing and draft content of field stories and marketing communications content from pipeline projects to the global communications team. She/he will develop communication and outreach strategy which also focuses on broad-based awareness raising on climate change, REDD+ and the carbon market. This is crucial to building long-term constituents for conservation. The Communications Specialist will frequently collaborate with the global communications team to coordinate and prioritize content development as well as develop the crisis communications plan. Effective crisis management has the potential to reduce the amount of damage received to the project and/or prevent an incident from developing into a crisis in the first place.
**Responsibilities**:
- Develop and implement a communication strategy that includes media outreach, content creation, and the crisis communications plan.
- Work directly with the global communications team to develop the communication materials.
- Manage the Indonesia social media accounts.
- Write and pitch stories to the local and national press.
- Manage the individuals who will be collecting content from each project.
- Regularly travel into the forest areas to interview and develop trusted relationships with community members.
- Support knowledge and educational sharing sessions with community members and broader stakeholders on the topics of climate change, carbon market, wildlife conservation, and REDD+.
- Liaise with media and handle requests for interviews, statements, stories requests, etc. This includes managing the related trips.
- Support the Indonesia Country Director and Sourcing Officer on communications and marketing materials needed to elevate PT Wildlife Works Indonesia’s reputation in project sourcing.
- Support Indonesia Policy and Advocacy Team by creating content for local advocacy goals.
- Research and write press releases, and content for the company website, infographics, blogs, and newsletters.
- Collaborate with marketing professionals to produce copy for advertisements or articles.
- Organize initiatives and plan events or press conferences.
- Support and evaluate the results of communication campaigns with the team.
- Build and maintain relationships with journalists and key external role-players.
- Arrange and coordinate press conferences, and plan events.
**Requirements**:
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations, or a related field (essential).
- A minimum of 7 years experience in communications strategy development (essential).
- Excellent English writing and verbal storytelling skills and training
- Works well under pressure and meets tight deadlines.
- Content writing experience for all media platforms.
- Proven social media and networking expertise.
- Strategic and creative mindset.
- Meticulous attention to detail.
- Good listener with strong people skills to interview people from different backgrounds in our project communities.
- A portfolio of work available for review.
