Senior School Counselor – Amman Academy

Position Overview

Amman Academy is a Partnership School (Satuan Pendidikan Kerjasama/SPK) implementing the International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP) and Diploma Programme (DP) to deliver a world-class education for the children of employees working in the mining industry. The Senior School Counselor plays a central role in guiding secondary students (Years 8–12) towards academic success, personal growth, and university readiness. This position focuses on post-secondary planning, course scheduling, and career guidance—ensuring that every student graduates university and career-ready. The ideal candidate possesses deep experience in both Indonesian and international university admissions, with a proven ability to support students applying to universities in Indonesia, Asia, and worldwide.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide individualized college and career counseling for students in Years 8–12, supporting academic, social-emotional, and post-secondary development.
• Guide students through the university research and application process for both Indonesian and international institutions.
• Advise students on course selection, graduation requirements, and academic pathways aligned with their post-secondary goals.
• Organize and lead workshops on college essay writing, interview preparation, and standardized testing (SAT, IELTS, TOEFL, etc.).
• Host university fairs, parent seminars, and student guidance sessions to promote awareness of global university opportunities.
• Maintain expertise in Indonesian university admissions systems (SNBP, SNBT, Mandiri pathways) and advise students accordingly.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with local and international universities, embassy education offices, and scholarship organizations.
• Collaborate with teachers, coordinators, and principals to ensure student success and smooth transitions across grade levels.
• Oversee documentation, timelines, and transcripts for university applications, ensuring compliance with institutional deadlines.
• Track student outcomes, produce annual reports on university acceptances, and maintain a comprehensive data system for student records.
• Support holistic student well-being through advisory, social-emotional support, and collaboration with the Student Support Team and IB Coordinators.
• Act as liaison between students, parents, and faculty in promoting healthy balance between academic achievement and emotional well-being.
• Participate in school-wide events, accreditation processes, and professional development initiatives related to counseling and student achievement.

Background Experiences

• Minimum 5 years of experience as a secondary or university counselor in an international or bilingual school setting.
• Proven success guiding students to top-tier universities globally and within Indonesia.
• Extensive experience managing Indonesian national pathways, Western (U.S., U.K., Canada, Australia, Europe) and Asian university applications.
• Experience delivering parent workshops, career planning sessions, and leadership in student advisory programs.
• Familiarity with the IB MYP and DP curricula and ability to integrate university counseling into IB learner development.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with culturally diverse families and stakeholders.

Professional & Educational Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Counseling, Psychology, Education, or related field (Master's preferred).
• Recognized counseling certification or equivalent qualification in guidance and counseling.
• Formal training in college admissions counseling and experience with global university systems (Common App, UCAS, OUAC, etc.).
• Deep knowledge of Indonesian higher education system, including national entrance pathways (SNBP, SNBT, Mandiri).
• Proficiency in English required; bilingual proficiency in Bahasa Indonesia and English preferred.
• Experience using digital counseling platforms such as bridge-U and student management systems for data tracking and communication.
