Job Responsibilities:

  1. Monitor and interpret relevant forestry, carbon, and land-use regulations in Indonesia.
  2. Ensure compliance with Indonesian laws including Perhutanan Sosial, IUPJL, HGU, HGB, IPPKH, AMDAL, and KemenLH and Kemen Hut policies.
  3. Maintain liaison with national/provincial environmental and forestry agencies (KemenLH, KemenHut, BPDLH, KPH).
  4. Prepare and manage necessary documentation for permits, licenses, and government submissions.
  5. Ensure project design and documentation comply with Verra VCS, Gold Standard, Plan Vivo, etc and CCB Standards.
  6. Provide technical support during project validation and verification processes.
  7. Support the preparation and review of Project Design Documents (PDDs).
  8. Advise on additionality, permanence, leakage management, and non-permanence buffer risks.
  9. Collaborate with GIS, MRV, and community teams to integrate legal and regulatory considerations into project planning.
  10. Provide technical input on carbon stock assessments, biomass calculations, and forest restoration protocols.
  11. Participate in field visits to monitor compliance and assess risks.
  12. Facilitate alignment between project goals and local governance structures, customary rights, and FPIC protocols.
  13. Support engagement with community forestry groups, customary landholders, and local NGOs.
  14. Contribute to benefit-sharing and carbon rights discussions in line with compliance frameworks.
  15. Prepare compliance reports, legal memos, risk assessments, and validation checklists.
  16. Maintain an internal knowledge base on forestry policy updates and carbon regulations.
  17. Ensure timely submission of all documents related to national carbon registry and VCM platforms.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in forestry, Environmental Law, Natural Resource Management, or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in carbon project development, forestry or environmental sustainability
  • Strong knowledge of Indonesian forestry laws and permitting processes.
  • Proven experience with Verra VCS, CCB Standards, or other carbon certification frameworks.
  • Familiarity with VCM (Voluntary Carbon Market) and Article 6 implementation is a strong advantage.
  • Experience working with NGOs, private sector, or government forestry programs.
  • Excellent understanding of land tenure, licensing, and carbon rights in Indonesia.
  • Connections with key stakeholders in KLHK, BPDLH, or local FMUs.
  • Experience in carbon policy advocacy or participation in VCM working groups.
