The Government of North Macedonia is planning to award Bechtel, along with our joint venture partner, the construction of approximately 110km of dual carriageway motorway.

The project is of significant national importance and the Government of North Macedonia is entrusting the joint venture to fast track the development and construction of these strategic motorways which will form part of the Pan-European Corridors IIIV and Xd, which will enhance North Macedonia’s transport connections with neighbouring countries and support economic and social development.

These four new sections of motorway will continue Bechtel’s legacy in delivering successful motorways in the Balkan region. The North Macedonia motorway consists of two sections in the east heading south from the capital Skopje and running parallel to the Sharr mountains, one section passing through the UNESCO natural world heritage site around Lake Ohrid (one of Europe’s deepest and oldest lakes), with the fourth section in the South of the country close to the border with Greece which will enhance connectivity between the cities of Bitola and Prilep.

**Position Summary**

The Business Manager (BM) is responsible for managing the following departments: Document Control, Finance & Accounting, Project Controls, Human Resources, Procurement & Subcontract Management, Camp & Facilities and IS&T. The BM is responsible for the day to day operations of each of these departments and reports to the Project Manager. The BM advises the Construction Manager and Project Manager on all business matters and assists in the development of strategy and processes for implementation.

**Typical Responsibilities**
- Provide oversight to all commercial activities to ensure relevant Governance (Bechtel, Enka and Others) is followed.
- Direct and provide functional oversight of: Document Control, Finance & Accounting, Project Controls, Human Resources, Procurement & Subcontract Management, Camp & Facilities and IS&T activities.
- Overseeing the effective implementation of Project Control systems (Bechtel, Enka and Others).
- Reviewing and recommending staffing needs for all the departments in his/her remit.
- Work with Project Operations teams to assess recovery and mitigation action and make recommendations.
- Coach and supervise project team members to maintain technical competence and consistency of administration within the project. Check that actions or lack thereof which may result in trends or contract changes are identified and make recommendations on their resolution.
- Monitor the Change Management System to check that that regular review and mitigation of trends takes place.
- Coordinate studies of “business cases” to ensure proper commercial decisions are taken.
- Take necessary care to properly protect the confidentiality, integrity and availability of both corporate and agency information from unauthorised disclosure, modification or destruction.

**Skills and Qualifications**
- Degree in Engineering, Business, or Construction Management, or equivalent experience.
- Extensive of experience in the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction industry.
- Business and Commercial knowledge and experience including Project Execution Plan development and implementation.
- Contracts/subcontracts formulation and administration, risk analysis, and commercial negotiation.
- Change control and documentation management
- Cost trend program and its linkage to change control
- Working effectively in Joint Ventures, Alliances and Consortiums
- Cross functional work processes and interface knowledge, especially Project Controls, Supply Chain management, Quality management and the ability to manage the relationships/interfaces with management and functional groups.
- Knowledge and understanding of standard tools, techniques and procedures including: Project Controls, Financial management
