**Job Description**:

- Assistant catering directors provide support to catering directors in handling the details of events.
- Working in the hospitality industry especially in hotels and companies which are dedicated to providing catering services.
- Main work involves coordinating the details of catering for every event that the company is handling.
- Working as an assistant catering director can provide great insight into how the catering business is run.
- Assistant catering directors work with customers to understand the different catering needs; conferring with customers, take down notes and provide customers with information on how an event can be handled as far as catering is concerned.
- Need to be highly knowledgeable of the foodservice industry and popular catering trends to be able to work successfully in this position.

Work Experience
- Confer with customers to understand their catering needs and provide appropriate suggestions.
- Provide support to the catering director by researching customers and venues.
- Ensure that appropriate market competition data and information about new trends in catering are provided to the director.
- Coordinate the efforts of the catering staff in order to ensure proper event management.
- Make sure that food, beverages, and seating arrangements are properly managed.
- Prepare quotations of catering events and provide needed information to the director.
- Ensure that all quotations are in accordance with the standards provided by the catering director.
- Create invoices by making sure that all taxes and additional charges are put in.
- Coordinate efforts to rent audio and visual equipment.
- Work with kitchen staff to plan menus in accordance with the customers’ directions.
- Suggest alternative menu items in order to provide customers with variety.
- Follow up with customers in order to seal event catering agreements.
- Ensure customer satisfaction by responding to complaints and suggestions efficiently.
- Handle operational issues in a professional manner.
- Schedule catering staff schedules and ensure staff compliance.
- Maintain catering staff records and prepare payrolls.
- Provide members of the catering staff with information of food safety and hygiene.
- Educate catering staff about proper customer service and complaint handling.
