Art Gallery Attendant

Overview

The Art Gallery Attendant at The Labyrinth Collective is responsible for ensuring a welcoming and engaging experience for all visitors. This role includes guiding guests through the exhibits, providing information about the artwork and artists, and maintaining a high standard of presentation in the gallery space. The Art Gallery Attendant will support the gallery team in both administrative and operational duties, promoting an atmosphere that reflects the artistic vision of The Labyrinth Collective.

Key Responsibilities
- **Guest Engagement & Education**:

- Welcome visitors warmly and provide an overview of current exhibits and artists.
- Offer insights and answer questions to enhance visitor understanding and appreciation of the art on display.
- Conduct guided tours when required, tailoring information to varying levels of art knowledge.
- **Gallery Operations & Maintenance**:

- Ensure all artwork is displayed correctly and securely.
- Perform regular checks to maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety within the gallery.
- Monitor visitor flow and capacity limits to create a comfortable viewing environment.
- **Administrative Support**:

- Assist in maintaining inventory records of artwork and gallery supplies.
- Support the Gallery Curator in scheduling and coordinating exhibit changes, artist talks, and special events.
- **Sales & Customer Service**:

- Guide visitors through purchasing procedures for artwork and related items, ensuring accurate handling of transactions.
- Provide information on pricing, artist background, and provenance when necessary.
- Record visitor feedback and relay insights to the gallery team to improve the guest experience.
- **Marketing & Event Assistance**:

- Assist with setting up exhibitions, events, and artist talks, including logístical preparations and guest coordination.
- Collaborate with the marketing team by capturing visitor experiences and feedback.
- Promote gallery memberships, events, and merchandise to visitors as appropriate.

**Qualifications**:

- **Education**: High school diploma or equivalent; background in Art History, Fine Arts, or related fields is a plus.
- **Experience**: Prior experience in an art gallery, museum, or customer service role is preferred.
- **Skills**:

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage a diverse audience.
- Basic knowledge of art and art history; passion for contemporary and traditional art.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to multitask and manage time efficiently.
- Customer service and problem-solving skills.

Working Conditions
- Flexible schedule, with availability for weekends, evenings, and special events.
