The Institute for Energy Economics and Financial Analysis (IEEFA) is seeking an experienced energy sector professional with deep knowledge of Indonesia’s energy transition and has a strong understanding of energy economics and finance.
The Energy Finance Analyst, Indonesia, will assist IEEFA to develop country-level analyses and foster targeted and impactful stakeholder engagement within Indonesia. The analyst will be responsible for shaping research and analysis about Indonesia’s energy transition with emphasis on the power sector, including evaluating coal transition mechanisms, renewable energy development, and policies related to the country’s power sector amidst the transition. The Energy Finance Analyst, Indonesia, needs to be self-motivated, work independently, multitask, set priorities, and meet deadlines with limited direction while working remotely.
**Roles and Responsibilities**
- Independently research and write original compelling, professional reports and commentaries covering the energy transition in Indonesia.
- Conduct cutting-edge financial analysis, financial modelling, and market analysis with strong integrity to evaluate Indonesia’s energy sector.
- Build or maintain existing industry, government, regulator, and finance contacts to understand different perspectives to better inform research.
- Establish and engage with relevant stakeholders in private and public sectors across Indonesia and represent IEEFA at meetings and industry events.
- Contribute to disseminating research findings through active media and social media presence.
- Horizon scanning for energy and finance news through articles, annual reports, investor presentations, and industry reports on Indonesia’s energy sector and investments.
- Work collaboratively with IEEFA colleagues in Asia to ensure research alignment and effective communication approaches.
- Provide insights to the media and respond to requests for views to assist in building an informed public narrative on Indonesia’s energy transition.
**Required Qualifications**
- A minimum of seven years experience in energy, finance, or a related field.
- A degree in finance, economics, accounting, or engineering and/or with professional certifications (e.g. CFA) or appropriate and relevant market-oriented experience in lieu of those degrees.
- Working knowledge in investment decisions and corporate activities is required.
- Understanding of industry, policy and financial landscape in energy markets, with an emphasis on Indonesia’s power sector.
- Professional proficiency in writing in English and excellent narrative-building and writing skills demonstrated through publications, reports, and commentaries.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written) and with good political judgment to media, finance, and government stakeholders.
- Experience conducting quantitative analysis on energy, finance and/or economic issues.
- Must possess a commitment to IEEFA’s mission to accelerate the transition to a diverse, sustainable, and profitable energy economy.
**Compensation and Benefits**
Full-time 12-month fixed-term employment contract with the option of extension by mutual agreement and a market competitive remuneration.
**Work Schedule**
Full-time, 5 days/week with occasional evening or weekend work as required.
**Travel**
Some travel is required. All global team members attend IEEFA’s annual conference and international team retreat in the US.
**Physical Demand and Work Environment**
Must be able to work for prolonged periods at a computer. Computer work can involve repetitive motion, eyestrain, back, and neck strain.
