UE5 Animator Intern

We are seeking a highly skilled Animator intern with strong passion in Unreal Engine 5 to create lifelike and expressive character animations for cinematic sequences and interactive environments. The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of animation principles, body mechanics, and the UE5 animation pipeline, including Sequencer, Control Rig, and Motion Capture workflows.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop high-quality character and creature animations using Unreal Engine 5.
  • Implement, refine, and optimize animations directly in the engine using Control Rig, Sequencer, and Animation Blueprints.
  • Collaborate with 3D modelers, riggers, and technical artists to ensure smooth integration of assets.
  • Work closely with the game design and cinematic teams to ensure animations support storytelling and gameplay mechanics.
  • Apply motion capture data and adjust or clean it for natural movement and emotional performance.
  • Create animation state machines, blend spaces, and IK setups for real-time animation systems.
  • Troubleshoot and debug animation issues related to rigging, skinning, or engine constraints.

Requirements

  • Experience as an Animator in a UE5-based project (game, cinematic, or VR/AR).
  • Strong understanding of animation principles, body mechanics, and timing.
  • Proficiency with Unreal Engine 5 animation tools (Sequencer, Control Rig, Animation Blueprints, etc.).
  • Experience with Maya, Blender, or other 3D animation software.
  • Understanding of motion capture workflows and retargeting in UE5.
  • Ability to work closely with technical artists and developers to achieve desired performance and style.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to production constraints.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with MetaHuman Animator or Facial Animation pipelines.
  • Background in cinematic storytelling or cutscene animation.
  • Familiarity with Niagara, Physics simulation, or procedural animation tools.
  • Basic understanding of Blueprint scripting for animation logic.
  • Experience in VR/AR or interactive media projects.

Education / Experience

  • Currently studying or recently graduated in Animation, Game Design, 3D Art, or related field.

Portfolio Requirement
