Position Summary

The Marine M&E (Electrical & Piping) Engineer is responsible for planning, designing, reviewing, and supporting the installation of both electrical and piping systems for marine interior fit-out projects. This hybrid role combines electrical engineering and piping engineering functions to meet project requirements, ensure compliance with marine standards, and support seamless execution from design to commissioning. The role collaborates closely with internal teams, shipyards, suppliers, and classification societies to deliver safe, compliant, and high-quality systems.

Core Accountabilities / Responsibilities

1. Electrical Design & Engineering

  • Develop and review electrical system designs, wiring diagrams, and layout drawings for marine interior projects.
  • Prepare technical documentation (load schedules, SLDs, cable routing plans).
  • Ensure electrical systems comply with DNV, ABS, SOLAS, and other maritime standards.
  • Support installation, testing, and commissioning activities on-site.
  • Participate in FAT/SAT and verify system integrity.
  • Review vendor specifications and evaluate technical offers for procurement.

2. Piping Design & Engineering

  • Prepare and review piping layouts, isometric drawings, and material specifications.
  • Ensure piping designs meet marine/offshore standards and project requirements.
  • Coordinate piping designs with structural, HVAC, and electrical disciplines.
  • Support site installation, pressure testing, alignment checks, and commissioning.
  • Prepare technical documentation such as as-built drawings and material certificates.

3. Material Take-Off (MTO) & Procurement Support

  • Perform MTO for both electrical and piping systems.
  • Prepare Bill of Materials for procurement and fabrication.
  • Verify technical specifications, quantities, and ensure compliance with project requirements.

4. Project Documentation & Compliance

  • Ensure system designs adhere to class rules, marine safety codes, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Maintain organized documentation for project approvals, audits, and handover.
  • Provide technical clarifications to shipyards, subcontractors, and classification societies.

5. Site Support & Issue Resolution

  • Conduct site inspections to ensure proper installation of electrical and piping systems.
  • Troubleshoot design-related issues and propose corrective actions.
  • Support testing and commissioning for both electrical and piping systems.
  • Ensure site activities follow safety practices and ICF's safety culture.

6. Collaboration & Stakeholder Coordination

  • Liaise with suppliers, subcontractors, clients, shipyard representatives, and regulatory bodies.
  • Coordinate cross-functionally with structural, HVAC, production, SCM, and design teams.
  • Work with project teams to ensure timely and smooth project execution.

7. Team Guidance (If Applicable)

  • Provide mentorship and support to junior engineers and drafters.
  • Review technical deliverables prepared by junior team members before submission.

Requirements & Qualifications

Education & Certification

  • Degree or Diploma in Electrical, Mechanical, Marine, Offshore Engineering, or related discipline.

Experience

  • 3–5 years of relevant experience in marine, offshore, shipbuilding, or interior fit-out projects.
  • Hands-on experience in electrical system design/installation AND/OR piping system design/installation.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong understanding of marine electrical systems: power distribution, lighting, emergency systems, automation.
  • Solid knowledge of piping systems, valves, fittings, and marine industry standards.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD; experience in Revit (MEP), ShipConstructor, or piping 3D software is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with marine codes: DNV, ABS, IACS, SOLAS, IMO, and other maritime regulations.
  • Ability to perform basic electrical and piping calculations (e.g., ETAP, flow/stress analysis).
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project coordination skills.
  • Good communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Able to travel and work on-site during critical phases.
