About Aquarev:

Aquarev is a venture-backed social enterprise created by The Meloy Fund to renovate, revitalize, and revolve credit for up to 75,000 poorly performing smallholder shrimp farms in Indonesia. Via a proprietary agtech+fintech platform, farmers receive financial support for best-practice renovation and climate-smart intensification of their shrimp ponds, and are provided hands-on support and guidance at the farm level to optimize the day-to-day cultivation process.

Aquarev is now launching its growth phase, bringing in more than US$4 million in investment to scale up its reach to 300 farmers and to implement a series of new sustainability initiatives. Aquarev seeks a dynamic, creative, and high-integrity management team to drive the growth of this innovative new company forward, ultimately to reach thousands of small-scale farmers in Indonesia and beyond.

About the Role:

Aquaculture Technical Expert serves as Aquarev's senior-most technical authority in intensive shrimp farming. This role is responsible for elevating farm performance across multiple sites by providing expert troubleshooting, optimizing production metrics (SR, FCR, ADG), strengthening SOP compliance, and coaching field teams. This position will play a key role in diagnosing critical issues, ensuring high biosecurity and water quality standards, and guiding supervisors and technicians toward consistent, high-performing farming operations.

Key responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary technical reference for all farm sites, leading rapid troubleshooting for critical issues such as mortality spikes, DO drops, disease outbreaks, water-quality deviations, and feeding problems, while providing swift corrective recommendations.
  • Develop, refine, and ensure adherence to farming SOPs (pond preparation, water treatment, feeding, biosecurity, sampling, and harvest), including conducting routine technical audits for compliance and consistency.
  • Analyze production and water-quality data (FCR, SR, ADG, WQ trends) to identify root causes and propose optimization strategies to meet Aquarev's production targets; prepare clear technical reports for management.
  • Provide training and technical support to field coordinator and technicians through structured coaching, knowledge transfer, and hands-on guidance in troubleshooting and technical execution.
  • Collaborate closely with Finance, Business Development and Management teams to align technical needs, resolve cross-functional issues, and provide input on equipment and infrastructure improvements.
  • Oversee the maintenance and readiness of farm assets, inventory, and infrastructure (including ponds, pipes, aerators, and supporting equipment) to ensure operational reliability and continuity.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Aquaculture, Fisheries, Biology, or related field, with 7–10 years of experience in intensive shrimp farming.
  • Prior roles as Senior Technician, Section Head, Site Manager, or Technical Manager, with experience managing multi-site & multi-pond operations (10–80+ ponds).
  • Strong technical expertise in improving production performance (SR, FCR, ADG), managing disease, water quality, and handling critical troubleshooting.
  • Strong analytical and scientific thinking, with the ability to interpret farm data to guide actions and solve operational issues.
  • Excellent communication and ability to make fast decisions.
