Cassava Farm Manager based in Nigeria

Responsibilities:

Strategic Planning and Management:

• Develop and implement strategic plans for cassava cultivation, focusing on yield optimization, Starch content improvement, cost efficiency, and sustainability.
• Oversee the development and execution of annual operational plans and budgets.
• Monitor industry trends, market conditions, and technological advancements to drive continuous improvement.

Farm Operations Management:

• Direct and supervise all farm operations, including land preparation, planting, crop maintenance, and harvesting.
• Ensure compliance with agricultural best practices, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Implement effective pest and disease control measures to safeguard crop health and maximize yield.

Supply Chain Coordination:

• Collaborate with procurement and logistics teams to ensure timely and efficient delivery of cassava to processing facilities.
• Manage relationships with external suppliers and contractors to support farm operations as needed.
• Implement quality control measures to maintain high standards in raw material supply.

Team Leadership and Development:

• Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of farm managers, supervisors, agronomists, and field workers.
• Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement among the farm workforce.
• Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide training opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.

Financial Management:

• Monitor farm expenses and budgets to ensure cost-effective operations without compromising quality or productivity.
• Identify opportunities for revenue growth and cost savings through efficient resource allocation and management practices.

Environmental and Sustainability Initiatives:

• Implement sustainable farming practices to minimize environmental impact and promote long-term soil health.
• Explore and integrate innovative technologies for water management, energy efficiency, and waste reduction on the farm.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Agronomy, Agriculture, or related field; Master's degree would be preferred.
• Proven experience (8+ years) in farm management, preferably in cassava cultivation
• Strong leadership skills with a track record of effectively managing and developing teams.
• Deep understanding of agronomical practices, crop science, and agribusiness operations.
• Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities, with a strategic mindset.
• Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and adapt to changing circumstances.
• Proficiency in agricultural software and technologies for farm management and data analysis.
• Proficient in the use Microsoft Office suite – Excel, Word & PowerPoint.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

• Proven hands-on experience managing large-scale cassava farms.
• Expertise in modern cultivation techniques, mechanization, and sustainable production methods.
• Strong leadership, operational, and agribusiness management skills.
• Willingness to relocate to Nigeria and lead a multicultural team.

• Knowledge of local and international market dynamics in cassava or related agricultural commodities is an advantage.

Compensation & Expat Benefits:

• Base Location: Benin, Edo State, Nigeria. West Africa
• Offshore Salary (Net) USD: upto $ /-
• Home Remittance: All offshore net savings shall be paid on a quarterly basis to the designated account. The remittance will be made by second week of each quarter as per the applicable cycle.
• Annual Performance Bonus (Net): Per calendar year of service, subject to Company achieving its budgeted performance & thereafter linked to individual performance achievement against your set KRA targets at the beginning of the contract as per company rules.
• Living Allowance (Net) plus reimbursement of expenses covering Electricity & Internet.
• Vacation / Leave Pay: 30 calendar days' vacation per annum.
• Visa Status: Bachelor Status
• Annual Air Passage: Reimbursement of Cheapest Economy Flight for Nigeria – India - Nigeria, once a year for self on mutual consent. This amount will be added to your offshore salary as per the agreed travel schedule.
• Accommodation: Fully Furnished Shared Accommodation. This will be provided by the company.
• Transport: As per the Company's policy an Operational Shared vehicle will be provided for you.
• Medical: On actual for treatment in Nigeria for self as per company's policy.
