Overview

We are hiring for a
client in the data center industry
seeking a
senior, design-first Controls / BMS professional
to support
end-to-end data center project delivery
. This role is
100% technical and design-oriented
, focused on
greenfield and expansion data center projects
, not operations-only or commissioning-only work.

The successful candidate will be responsible for
full lifecycle controls design
, from
concept and detailed design through IFC and as-built
, working closely with
electrical and mechanical design teams
to deliver
mission-critical, high-availability data center facilities
.

Key Responsibilities

End-to-End Data Center Control Design

  • Deliver
    complete BMS / controls system designs
    for data center projects, covering:
  • Concept and detailed design
  • IFC and as-built documentation
  • Develop and own
    design deliverables
    , including:
  • System architecture and network topology
  • Sequences of Operation (SOO)
  • Control strategies and logic philosophy
  • Point lists, alarm philosophy, and graphics concepts
  • Integration design with EPMS, UPS, generators, chillers, CRAH/CRAC, and other DC systems

Multi-Discipline Design Coordination

  • Coordinate closely with
    electrical, mechanical, and architectural teams
    to ensure controls designs align with:
  • Redundancy concepts (N+1, 2N)
  • Availability and uptime requirements
  • Data center operational philosophy
  • Identify and resolve design clashes and availability risks early in the design phase.

Design Governance & Change Management

  • Protect
    design intent
    throughout construction and commissioning phases.
  • Assess and manage design changes using structured
    impact analysis and MOC processes
    .
  • Support construction and commissioning teams while maintaining
    design authority
    .

Technical Review & Stakeholder Interface

  • Review vendor submissions and shop drawings against design intent.
  • Act as the technical reference point for controls-related design decisions.
  • Communicate clearly with internal stakeholders, consultants, and contractors.

Requirements

Must-Have

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in
    Electrical Engineering, Control Systems, Automation, or related discipline
    .
  • Minimum 3–5 years of direct data center project experience
    , specifically in
    design delivery
    (not operations-only).
  • Proven experience delivering
    end-to-end controls / BMS design
    for
    data center projects
    .
  • Strong understanding of
    data center MEP systems
    and their integration with controls.
  • Hands-on experience producing
    design deliverables
    , not limited to review or testing.

Strong Advantage

  • Experience with
    hyperscale or colocation data centers
    .
  • Familiarity with
    international data center standards
    (e.g., Uptime Institute, TIA-942, internal hyperscale standards).
  • Exposure to fast-track, mission-critical project environments across multiple countries.
