Job Summary

We are looking for a Product Development Specialist to support our product development and sourcing activities in the local market. This role plays a key part in identifying high-potential products, building supplier networks, coordinating orders, collecting market insights, and ensuring smooth collaboration between local suppliers and our headquarters.

This is a hands-on role that requires strong communication skills, business acumen, and familiarity with the local consumer market.


Key Responsibilities

  1. Supplier Development & Relationship Management

  2. Identify, approach, and onboard local suppliers across relevant product categories.

  3. Maintain long-term supplier relationships and evaluate supplier performance.

  4. Conduct basic commercial negotiations (pricing, terms, lead time, payment terms, etc.).

  5. Product Sourcing & Order Coordination

  6. Responsible for coordinating purchase orders between local suppliers and headquarters.

  7. Track order status and ensure timely delivery with expected quality.

  8. Follow up on samples, quotations, and documentation required by HQ.

  9. Market & Industry Research

  10. Collect and analyze local market trends, consumer preferences, and competitor activities.

  11. Provide regular feedback and proposals for new products or categories based on local insights.

  12. Attend trade fairs, exhibitions, or supplier events to explore new opportunities.

  13. Compliance & Documentation

  14. Gather and organize compliance documents required for import/export procedures.

  15. Ensure products meet local regulatory requirements.

  16. Assist HQ in assessing risks related to compliance, certification, and product testing.

  17. Cross-border Collaboration

  18. Work closely with HQ merchandising, quality, logistics, and finance teams.

  19. Provide timely communication and updates to HQ to ensure smooth coordination.
  20. Support alignment on sourcing strategies and product development plans.

Requirements

  1. Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, International Trade, Marketing, or related fields.

  2. Experience in sourcing, merchandising, procurement, or product development in retail, FMCG, consumer goods, trading, or similar industries.

  3. Strong understanding of the local supplier landscape and market trends.

  4. Good communication, negotiation, and vendor management skills.

  5. Ability to work independently, solve problems proactively, and adapt to a fast-paced environment.

  6. Good command of local language and English (both written and verbal), Chinese is a plus.

  7. Experience in exhibitions, trade fairs, or supplier scouting is an advantage.
