Job Purpose

To ensure that all Power Transformer manufacturing processes are carried out in accordance with quality standards, technical specifications, drawings, and international standards by performing in-process quality gates inspections throughout the production stages.

Job Description / Responsibilities

1. In-Process Quality Inspection

  • Perform in-process inspections during all stages of Power Transformer manufacturing, including:

  • HV/LV winding

  • Core Assembly and stacking
  • Coil Assembly
  • Active Part Assembly and Connection
  • VPD Process
  • Intaking Active Part
  • Vacuum and Filling Oil
  • Final Assembly Auxiliary and Wire Connection
  • Ensure all processes comply with approved drawings, work instructions (WI), and SOPs
  • Ensure that each process has been verifify in Control Card to decide Go or Not Go.

2. Visual and Dimensional Inspection

  • Conduct visual and dimensional inspections to verify:

  • Physical dimensions

  • Winding neatness and alignment
  • Insulation clearances and creepage distances
  • Cleanliness of active parts
  • Detect potential defects at early stages to prevent quality issues.

3. Electrical and Mechanical Control

  • Perform or verify electrical checks such as:

  • Winding resistance

  • Insulation resistance (IR)
  • Transformer Turns Ratio (TTR), when applicable
  • Fiber Optic test
  • Ensure mechanical strength and integrity of core and windings.

4. Documentation and Reporting

  • Prepare and maintain quality records including:

  • In-Process Inspection Reports (IPIR)

  • Check sheets and inspection forms
  • Non-Conformance Reports (NCR) for any deviations
  • Report inspection results to QA/QC Manager.

5. Non-Conformance and Corrective Action

  • Identify, record, and report non-conformities during production processes
  • Provide RCA for each NCR
  • Coordinate with Production and Engineering teams to implement corrective and preventive actions
  • Conduct re-inspection after corrective actions are completed.

6. Compliance with Standards and Safety

  • Ensure compliance with applicable standards such as:

  • IEC 60076

  • IEEE C57
  • SPLN 2023
  • ISO 9001
  • Enforce good housekeeping practices (5S) and occupational health and safety (HSE/K3) regulations in the production area.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree (S1) in Electrical Engineering

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Quality Control Production, and 1 year in QC Testing in :

  • Power Transformer manufacturing

Technical Competencies

  • Good understanding of:

  • Power Transformer manufacturing processes

  • Core, winding, and insulation systems

  • Ability to read and interpret:

  • Technical Transformer drawings

  • Electrical schematics diagram
  • Work instructions and SOPs

  • Familiar with measuring and testing instruments such as:

  • Calipers and micrometers

  • Multimeter
  • Insulation resistance tester (Megger)

Soft Skills

  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Firm and objective in inspection decisions
  • Good communication and coordination skills
  • Able to work in a production environment and shift system
  • Could manage QA/QC team from Incoming material until Final Assembly  of Power Transformer
