This role involves supporting the Japan team as a junior lawyer (bilingual in English) in our Tokyo office. You will work closely with the General Manager in Tokyo, the regional HQ in Singapore, and the General Counsel in Singapore.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Preliminary project screening and pre-bid due diligence, focusing on land and permitting issues
• Managing and negotiating multiple asset and share acquisitions or renewable projects using our standard form documentation
• Ongoing project monitoring
• General company secretarial duties and approvals
• NDAs and client onboarding

To succeed in this role, you should have:

• Native Japanese language skills
• Qualified in Japanese law (preferable) or a common law jurisdiction with knowledge of Japanese law
• Bilingual in English, able to translate legal documents and communicate with English-speaking team members
• Experience in a multinational in-house legal team or working with foreign clients in a domestic or international law firm
• Knowledge of land deals and investment schemes such as Silent Partnership and Limited Partnership
• Ability to work in a small, dynamic, and scaling team
