**WHAT WE CAN ACHIEVE TOGETHER**:
The External Affairs Senior Manager plans, develops, implements and coordinates a comprehensive external affairs initiative for Indonesia business unit to affect government policy and regulations at national level to further mission of Yayasan Konservasi Alam Nusantara (YKAN) of preserving biological diversity. Duties include regular contact with central government officials regarding matters pertaining to regulatory actions related to terrestrial programs and sustainable practices. S/he serves as YKAN primary contact to government agencies, multilateral agencies, business and private institutions, other conservation organizations, foundations and the academic community relating to the work of terrestrial programs.

This includes the following functions:

- Relationship Building & Partnership- Manages the external affairs aspect of the programs with external stakeholders relevant to the work of YKAN (e.g. government, academics, business associations, corporations, civil society organizations); particularly a focal point to Ministry of Environmnet and Forestry (KLHK), Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of National Development Planning (Bappenas), Coordinating Ministry for the Economy, as well as relevant bilateral and multilateral donor agencies.
- Develops and implements effective partnership strategies with other stakeholders.
- Policy Work- Addresses complex and innovative solutions with government agencies and industry associations to advance and influences policies related to forestry, forest certification (mandatory & voluntary), sustainable forest management, sustainable agriculture and spatial planning, etc.
- Secures on-going commitment and policy support from key regulators (esp. the Forest Concessionaires Association (APHI), Ministry of Environmnet and Forestry, Ministry of Agriculture, local government) to mainstream sustainable production forest management and sustainable agriculture.
- Supports the engagement of Indonesian policy makers in international policy dialogue, including within ASEAN and with bilateral partners related to legality framework.
- Public Funding- In implementing the external affairs, s/he should have exposure and be able to work on various funding and financing mechanisms relating, but not limited to, terrestrial programs from multilateral and/or bilateral agencies, national sources of funding (e.g. Reforestation Fund (DR), Regional Incentive Mechanism (RIM), DAU/DAK Kehutanan (General/Special Allocation Fund for Forestry sector),) as well as other public or private funding sources (e.g. Climate Finance initiatives, benefit sharing mechanism/REDD Finance).
- Leverages YKAN work from other funding sources with Public Funding to enhance public-private partnerships.
- Seeks to open new Public Funding opportunities relating, but not limited to, terrestrial work.
- Facilitates development process of concept notes and proposals submitted to multilateral agencies in coordination with key staff at YKAN.
- Sustainable Practices- Ensures that all YKAN activities comply with governmenl laws and regulations, and performance standards in sustainability.
- Supervising- Develops TORs and oversee contracting for various consultants.

**RESPONSIBILITIES AND SCOPE**:

- May supervise a team of administrative and/or professional staff with responsibility for performance management, training and development.
- Applies a diversified knowledge of practices to support YKAN strategies.
- Support program objectives by working in a complex matrix organization environment and works collaboratively within a cross-functional interdisciplinary team.
- Develops relationships and works effectively with corporate, government, community, and non-governmental organization partners.
- Acts independently within broad program goals.
- Develops and implements multi-year fundraising strategies and goals.
- Participates in negotiates for complex, high profile or sensitive agreements
- YKAN may, from time to time, assign the Employee to another location(s) in accordance with the requirements of the Employee’s job description and/or YKAN’s operational needs. The Employee agrees to work in such other work location(s) in Indonesia
