**About the Role**

They specialize in systems (operating systems, storage subsystems, networking), while implementing best practices for availability, reliability and scalability, with varied interests in algorithms and distributed systems.

**What will you be doing**
- Build, Expand, and Run our production environment on the Google Cloud Platform.
- Manage, configure, and troubleshoot cloud infrastructure issues, storage (block and object), K8s (GKE), networking (VPCs, proxies, and CDNs), and administer high-availability PostgreSQL, clusters, and other cloud services.
- Measure and optimize system performance by monitoring availability and taking a holistic view of system health.
- Create sustainable systems and services through automation and uplift.
- Capable of documenting the physical architecture of a system. Able to map logical architecture to physical architecture.
- Build or Implement monitoring that alerts on symptoms rather than on outages.
- Provides emergency response either by being on-call or by reacting to symptoms according to monitoring and escalation when needed.
- Work collaboratively with cross-functional distributed teams in engineering, QA, and product management in all phases - requirements, development, testing, launch/release, and documentation
- Partner with development teams to improve services through release procedures.
- Participate in system design consulting, platform management, and capacity planning.
- Able to use an escalation matrix to bring the right talent to a conversation.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field
- Preferably one cloud certification in GCP, AWS, or Azure (with the same level or higher) E.g.: AWS Certified SysOps Administrator - Associate
- E xperienced in the following technologies: Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Bitbucket Pipeline, Jenkins, GIT, Terraform, UNIX and Power-shell Scripting, JIRA, Chef, Ansible, Docker, and Kubernetes
- Minimum 5 years of experience in System Operation
- Experience creating and maintaining monitoring and alerting capabilities using tools like CloudWatch, Datadog, Grafana, Zabbix, or OpenSearch
- Familiar with (Functional and OO) one or more high level languages, such as Python, Java, C/C++, Ruby, and JavaScript
- Familiar with big data pipeline deployment is a plus.
- Able to run a severity 0 troubleshooting call with the cross-functional team.
- An eye towards pushing our capabilities forward and innovating to continually improve
- A proactive approach to spotting problems, areas for improvement, and performance bottlenecks
- Good interpersonal skills, oral and written skills, with the ability to present ideas
