We're looking for a Full Stack Team Lead who loves to build as much as they love to lead. You'll split your time between guiding a talented team of frontend and backend engineers and staying hands-on in the codebase, shaping the architecture of modern, scalable web applications built with PHP and React. What you'll do
Leading the team
• Lead, mentor and support a team of frontend and backend engineers through regular 1:1s and feedback
• Break down projects and delegate work effectively, balancing delivery with each person’s growth
• Own delivery: plan sprints, estimate work, track progress and flag risks early
• Work with product and stakeholders to scope and prioritise the roadmap
• Run code reviews, set engineering standards and champion clean, maintainable code
• Own technical decisions on architecture, performance and scalability
• Build a positive, collaborative culture where people do their best work Building the product
- Write clean, well-structured code across the stack in PHP and React
- Design and maintain scalable backend services and REST APIs
- Design database schemas and optimise queries in relational databases
- Build with AWS services including Lambda and SQS, plus WebSockets and Cloudflare Workers
- Tackle complex problems, from performance bottlenecks to architectural challenges What we're looking for Must have
- 5+ years of commercial experience with PHP and React
- Proven experience leading and managing an engineering team
- Strong knowledge of relational databases, including schema design and query optimisation
- Solid understanding of backend architecture, REST APIs and event-driven systems (Lambda, SQS, WebSockets)
- A solid grasp of PHP's request lifecycle and execution model, and how to design around it (queues, workers, async processing)
- Strong problem-solving and debugging skills
- Clear communication and a team-first attitude Nice to have
- Experience with Cloudflare Workers
- Familiarity with aviation industry systems, or a genuine interest in learning
- A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field
