The DB Security L2 Engineer is responsible for managing and maintaining IBM's Guardium platform to ensure the security and integrity of an organization's databases. This role involves monitoring database activities, configuring security policies, and collaborating with various teams to protect sensitive data and comply with regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities
- Platform Administration: Oversee the deployment, configuration, and maintenance of the IBM Guardium system, ensuring its optimal performance and integration with existing database infrastructures.
- Database Activity Monitoring: Continuously monitor database activities to detect unauthorized access or anomalies, utilizing Guardium's capabilities to safeguard sensitive information.
- Policy Development and Enforcement: Develop, implement, and manage security policies within Guardium to prevent unauthorized data access and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Incident Response: Investigate security incidents detected by Guardium, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
- Collaboration: Work closely with database administrators, IT security teams, and other stakeholders to integrate Guardium with various database platforms and ensure cohesive security strategies.
- Reporting and Documentation: Generate detailed reports on database activities, security incidents, and compliance status. Maintain comprehensive documentation of configurations, policies, and procedures.
- Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
- Certifications: Relevant certifications such as IBM Certified Deployment Professional - Guardium, Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), or equivalent are advantageous.
- Technical Skills
- Proficiency in managing and configuring database security platforms.
- Strong understanding of relational database management systems (RDBMS) such as Oracle and SQL Server
- Knowledge of operating systems, including Linux and Windows.
- Soft Skills
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and security.
- Experience
- 3-5 years of experience in database security or IT security operations.
- Hands-on experience with IBM Guardium or similar database activity monitoring solutions.
