Job summary

We are seeking an energetic Data Center Facility Manager to serve as a technical resource and leader within the new Indonesia data center. The position will ensure overall availability and reliability to meet or exceed defined service levels of data center operations. The Data Center Facility Manager is responsible for the overall operation and maintenance of all electrical, mechanical, and HVAC equipment within the entire facility. The Data Center Facility Manager will maintain a high reliability and performance while keeping operating costs in facilities at a minimum. This equipment supports mission-critical servers and must maintain better than 99.999% uptime.

This role reports to the Indonesia Data Centre Engineering Operations manager and is Amazon’s front line when it comes to management of the electrical and mechanical equipment troubleshooting. They will maintain, operate, and troubleshoot, with the assistance of the site engineering operations team, the mission-critical data center facility equipment including electrical support equipment such as stand-by diesel generators and related fuel systems, 3 phase electrical systems that include but not limited to switchgear, UPS units, PDUs, and wet cell batteries and associated systems. Mechanical equipment includes CRAC units, centrifugal chillers, cooling towers/water chemical system, air handlers and associated systems, pumps, and motors. Additional support equipment is included in the scope of the role which includes fire suppression systems, building automation systems, and general facilities equipment.

This position is directly responsible for the hiring and development of the site engineering operations team. The facility manager will coordinate the training of the site engineering operations technicians in line with Amazons Infrastructure global training program to ensure they are proficient in all aspects of the site engineering operations including, but not limited to equipment operation and maintenance, incident management and escalation, safety, scorecard, Key Performance Indicator (KPI) and document creation.

Key job responsibilities

1. Responsible and accountable for the operation of and management data center’s both routine and emergency services on a variety of critical systems such as: switchgear, generators, UPS systems, power distribution equipment, chillers, cooling towers, computer room air handlers, building monitoring systems, and other data center support systems.

2. Work with Chief Engineer (CE), FM will conduct analyses, develop, lead and manage action for improvement, and prepare reports on all aspects of the critical facility operations and maintenance

3. Lead and manage on-site management of shift technicians, senior shift technicians, sub-contractors and vendors, ensuring that all work performed is in accordance with established practices and procedures.

4. Manage relationship with Safety, Security Team, Construction Management Team, Field Engineering Team, and various other support organization to ensure safe, secure, and reliable data centers operations.

5. Manage relationship with third party colocation providers and their facility staff

6. Manage talent acquisition process and people development for DCEO organization.

7. Work with other business leaders to coordinate projects, manage capacity, and optimize data center’s facilities safety, performance, reliability and efficiency
