**About The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade**
The role of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) is to advance the interests of Australia and Australians internationally. This involves strengthening Australia’s security, enhancing Australia’s prosperity, delivering an effective and high-quality development program and helping Australian travellers and Australians overseas.
The department provides foreign, trade and development policy advice to the Australian Government. DFAT also works with other Australian government agencies to drive coordination of Australia’s pursuit of global, regional and bilateral interests.
Australia and Indonesia have an effective development partnership that is boosting economic growth and tackling poverty, improving health and education outcomes, and strengthening democracy, justice and governance.
**About the position**
Australia has a longstanding partnership with Indonesia in the education sector. Australia’s development partnership in education with Indonesia currently focusses on improving the quality of education, particularly to help improve student’s learning of foundational skills at the basic education level. In achieving this objective, high value is placed on ensuring that all children, including girls and those with a disability could equally access good quality education. These efforts are realised through three key activities: the Innovation for Indonesia’s School Children or INOVASI, the Rural and Remote Education Support for Papuan provinces, and analytical work through the Australia World Bank Partnership or ABIP. These activities are managed by the Basic Education Unit which is part of DFAT’s Human Development Section.
The Assistant Program Manager will report to the Senior Program Manager in the Basic Education Unit. Under general direction, the Assistant Program Manager is responsible for supporting the Senior Program Manager in management of the INOVASI program, which includes contract management, financial management, program monitoring, and program reporting.
