Quality Inspector

The Quality Inspector applies their conceptual knowledge of inspection and, with a moderate level of guidance and direction from colleagues and leadership, is responsible for solving a range of straightforward inspection problems. They will be responsible for analyzing possible solutions using standard procedures and building knowledge of the company, processes, and customers. The Quality Inspector understands key business drivers and applies this knowledge to solve problems in straightforward situations by analyzing possible solutions using technical experience, judgment, and precedents. Job Overview: Perform field inspection of coatings, pfp, insulation, TSA etc in accordance with project specification and scope as noted in the ITP. Review and familiarize with Project AFC drawing, vendor drawings, ITP, Work Instruction and Project specification relating to assigned project. Execute the inspection and Quality Control activities on site, collecting the relevant objectives proofs, ensuring monitoring and coordination of quality control activities on electrical and instrument equipment/system construction, installation and mechanical completion activities. Conducting business & performing duties in accordance with McDermott’s " Code of Business Conduct" and any other governing of the company. Key Tasks and Responsibilities: 1. Read and to understand the Project Specification, applicable Codes and Standards, Procedures and Inspection and Test Plan. 2. Calibration of inspection and test instruments, using coatings inspection and test instruments. 3. Enforcement and verification of work performed in accordance with specification, manufacturer recommendations and coating procedure. 4. Measure ambient conditions, surface temperature and air quality requirements. 5. Inspect Type of blasting equipment and tools to be used 6. Inspect Type and size of blasting media. 7. Inspect metal surface imperfections / defects 8. Test indications of oil or water in compressed air. 9. Test analyses of water-soluble ionic contamination of blasting media. 10. Inspect pre-cleaning, solvent cleaning of surface, Mechanical surface preparation during pre-fabrication and onsite portable centrifugal blasting, Open air blast cleaning, Vacuum blast cleaning, Hand and power tool cleaning. 11. Measure compressed air pressure. 12. Inspect degree of cleanliness required. 13. Measure surface profile of blast cleaned surface. 14. Assess surface cleanliness of blast cleaned surface. 15. Inspect coating material storage conditions. 16. Inspect type of coating material to be used. 17. Monitor thinning, mixing, induction time and pot life. compounds, Anti-skid deck coatings, Coated Hot Dip Galvanizing, Insulation and its acceptance. 20. Measure wet film thickness by notch gages. 21. Non-destructive measurement of dry film thickness of non-magnetic coatings / non-conductive coatings applied to ferrous surface. 22. Monitor re-coating and final curing schedules. 23. Test discontinuities (holiday or pinholes) of coatings and linings. 24. Inspection of defects on coated surface. 25. Acceptable and unacceptable defects. 26. To stop non-conforming work and inform the production supervisor of required corrective rework. 27. Documentation of the daily inspection activities and other necessary activity as per the project requirement.
