  • POSITION SUMMARY

The Associate Director – Medical supports the Chief of Medical in providing strategic leadership and operational oversight of medical services across multiple hospitals within the Group. The role ensures the implementation of standardized clinical governance, high-quality patient care, regulatory compliance, medical workforce readiness, and continuous improvement across all hospital units.

This position leads, guides, and evaluates GM Medical across the network to ensure alignment with corporate goals and clinical excellence standards.

  • KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Strategic & Clinical Governance
  • Assist the Chief of Medical in formulating corporate medical strategies and annual plans.
  • Translate Group strategy into operational directives for GM Medical across all hospitals.
  • Develop, implement, and review clinical governance frameworks, policies, guidelines, and SOPs.
  • Ensure medical operations align with corporate vision, mission, and values.
  • Multi-Hospital Medical Operations Oversight
  • Oversee the performance of GM Medical and provide leadership, guidance, coaching, and performance review.
  • Review each hospital's annual medical workplan and ensure compliance with corporate direction.
  • Monitor service availability, specialist coverage, bed utilization, and medical capacity across hospitals.
  • Coordinate cross-hospital medical resource support (e.g., specialist sharing, cross-cover, telemedicine services).
  • Quality of Care & Patient Safety
  • Ensure implementation of clinical quality standards and patient safety programs (KARS/JCI).
  • Review and monitor clinical indicators: mortality, morbidity.
  • Lead Group-level clinical audits, peer reviews, and morbidity & mortality (M&M) reviews.
  • Medical Staff Management & Credentialing
  • Oversee Group-wide processes for credentialing, privileging, and re-credentialing of medical staff.
  • Provide direction to hospital credentialing committees and manage escalated performance issues.
  • Support medical workforce planning and recruitment for specialists and general practitioners.
  • Promote medical professionalism, ethical conduct, and continuous development of medical staff.
  • Clinical Service Development & Innovation
  • Identify opportunities for new clinical programs, service expansion, and Centers of Excellence.
  • Collaborate with Finance, Operations, and Business Development for feasibility studies and business cases.
  • Promote clinical pathways, evidence-based practice, and medical standardization initiatives.
  • Support digital health adoption (telemedicine, EMR enhancement, clinical decision support systems).
  • Regulatory Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with national healthcare laws, licensing regulations, and medical practice standards.
  • Manage clinical risk and medico-legal issues in collaboration with Legal and Risk teams.
  • Financial & Resource Management
  • Provide medical input to annual budgeting, manpower planning, and medical equipment procurement.
  • Evaluate medical equipment proposals and ensure optimized utilization of medical resources.
  • Monitor cost-effectiveness of clinical services and ensure efficiency without compromising quality.
  • Stakeholder Management & Collaboration
  • Build strong relationships with Hospital Directors, Nursing Directors, Quality Directors, and corporate functions.
  • Act as liaison between medical leadership, regulators, professional bodies, and external partners.
  • Manage relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs) and senior specialists.
  • People Leadership & Development
  • Lead, coach, and mentor GM Medical across hospitals, developing strong medical leadership capability.
  • Conduct Medical Leadership Forums to share best practices and align cross-hospital initiatives.
  • Support talent management, succession planning, and capability development of medical leaders.
  • Projects & Change Management
  • Lead clinical transformation projects, medical standardization initiatives, and digital implementation programs.
  • Drive change management and ensure smooth adoption of new systems, policies, and clinical practices.
  • Monitor project progress and ensure deliverables meet quality and timeline expectations.
  • JOB PROFILE (QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES)
  • Education
  • Medical Doctor (MD) with valid national license.
  • Specialist qualification preferred (e.g., Internal Medicine, Surgery, Anesthesiology, etc.).
  • Additional degrees in Hospital Management, Healthcare Administration, Public Health, or MBA preferred.
  • Experience
  • Minimum 10–12 years of post-graduate experience.
  • At least 5–7 years in medical leadership (GM Medical, Medical Director, Head of Department, or Corporate Medical role).
  • Experience in multi-hospital settings or large tertiary hospital operations preferred.
  • Strong track record in clinical governance, accreditation, and medical staff management.
  • Technical Competencies
  • Strong knowledge of clinical governance, patient safety, and medical quality systems.
  • Familiarity with national healthcare regulations and accreditation standards (KARS/JCI).
  • Ability to analyze clinical data, dashboards, and performance metrics.
  • Proficiency in medical policies, SOPs, and clinical pathway development.
  • Understanding of hospital information systems and digital health technologies.
