supervisor shift maintenance

Some of your duties will include:

To lead, control, and execute shift-based maintenance activities for processing fixed plant equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient plant operation, while minimizing downtime and maintaining compliance with safety, technical, and statutory requirements.

1. Shift Maintenance Execution

• Lead and coordinate daily shift maintenance activities (corrective, preventive, and condition-based) across process plant areas.
• Ensure prompt response to plant breakdowns to restore equipment availability within agreed targets.
• Execute approved maintenance work orders according to job plans, standards, and safety requirements.
• Monitor equipment condition during shift operations and initiate corrective actions.

2. Safety, Health & Compliance

• Enforce zero-harm safety culture, including LOTO, confined space, working at height, and energy isolation procedures.
• Conduct pre-task risk assessments (JSA/JHA) and toolbox meetings before maintenance execution.
• Ensure compliance with company HSE standards, statutory regulations, and site safety rules.
• Report and investigate incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions.

3. Technical Supervision & Quality Control

• Supervise mechanical, electrical, and/or instrumentation maintenance works depending on trade coverage.
• Ensure quality workmanship and adherence to OEM manuals, maintenance standards, and engineering specifications.
• Verify job completion, equipment handover readiness, and functional testing before release to operations.

4. Coordination with Operations

• Coordinate closely with Shift Operations Supervisors to align maintenance priorities with production targets.
• Participate in shift handover meetings and communicate plant status, risks, and outstanding issues clearly.
• Support planned maintenance windows during production constraints.

5. Planning, Reporting & Documentation

• Update maintenance records, job feedback, and breakdown reports in CMMS / SAP PM.
• Record equipment downtime, failure causes, and corrective actions accurately.
• Support reliability and continuous improvement initiatives by providing field data and observations.

6. People Leadership & Development

• Lead and motivate shift maintenance crews to achieve safety, quality, and productivity targets.
• Allocate manpower effectively based on skill, priority, and urgency.
• Coach technicians on proper maintenance practices and safe work behaviors.
• Support training and competency development of team members.

7. Cost & Asset Integrity Control

• Ensure efficient use of tools, spare parts, and consumables during shift activities.
• Prevent rework, material wastage, and unnecessary overtime through proper supervision.
• Support asset integrity programs to extend equipment life and improve plant reliability.

What skills and experience do you need?

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation, or related discipline.
• Minimum 8 years of maintenance experience in large-scale processing fixed plants, with at least 5 years in a supervisory or leading-hand role.
• Strong exposure to crushing, grinding (SAG/Ball Mill), flotation, thickening, conveyors, pumps, compressors, utilities, or similar heavy industrial process equipment; Experience working with CMMS / SAP PM for work orders and reporting.
• Solid understanding of process plant equipment maintenance principles; Ability to diagnose equipment failures and lead troubleshooting under time pressure; Strong knowledge of maintenance safety systems (LOTO, permits, risk assessment); Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs, and OEM manuals.
• Qualifications certificate recognized by KaIT (Chief Mines Inspector) in accordance with level of position; Trade certification or technical competency certification relevant to discipline.
• Strong safety leadership and accountability mindset, hands-on, field-oriented leadership style.; Effective shift coordination and communication skills in a production-critical environment; Calm, decisive, and reliable under operational pressure; Strong teamwork and cross-department coordination skills; High integrity, discipline, and attention to detail.
• Good communication skills in English both verbal and written and computer literate.
