We are seeking an experienced Marketplace Consultant with a strong background in leading or contributing to the development of large-scale consumer marketplaces (e.g., Alibaba, Lazada, Shopee, Tokopedia, Amazon). The ideal candidate will bring deep understanding of marketplace ecosystems, multi-sided platform design, and best-in-class architecture practices to help build and scale a new B2B chemical marketplace from the ground up.

This role requires someone who can bridge business requirements and technical implementation, with strong familiarity in Laravel-based backend environments and multi-side admin systems. You will work closely with engineering, operations, and leadership teams to design the marketplace structure, user journeys, and functional workflows.


Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert guidance on designing and building a multi-vendor marketplace ecosystem, applying best practices from leading consumer marketplace platforms.
  • Define the structure and requirements for buyer, seller, and admin-side workflows, ensuring a seamless multi-sided user experience.
  • Collaborate closely with the engineering team to shape platform architecture, especially around high-level Laravel structures, APIs, backend logic, and system integration points.

  • Review and advise on marketplace modules such as:

  • product catalog & listings

  • multi-seller checkout
  • quotation workflows
  • commission & settlement
  • logistics/shipping integration
  • promotional & pricing mechanisms
  • dispute management
  • Develop recommendations for operational processes, internal admin tools, and scalable system design.
  • Analyze platform gaps, propose improvements, and ensure features align with marketplace best practices.
  • Support end-to-end planning for building a B2B marketplace, including roadmap shaping, MVP definition, and feature prioritization.
  • Guide internal teams to understand marketplace fundamentals, architecture logic, and long-term scalability considerations.
  • Benchmark the platform against leading consumer marketplaces to ensure competitive functionality and user flows.

Requirements
  • Proven experience working in a major consumer marketplace company (e.g., Alibaba, Lazada, Shopee, Tokopedia, Amazon, etc.).
  • Deep understanding of marketplace architecture, including multi-seller, multi-product, and multi-admin environments.
  • Familiarity with backend frameworks such as Laravel (high-level understanding is sufficient; coding not required).
  • Hands-on involvement in designing or guiding marketplace modules at scale.
  • Strong ability to break down complex marketplace systems into clear technical and operational requirements.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to provide structured recommendations for new marketplace builds.
  • Comfortable working in a zero-to-one product environment, especially for new platform creation.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with technical and non-technical teams.
