QC Structure

Key responsibilities

• Perform inspections: Conduct quality control checks on both structural components (e.g., formwork, rebar, concrete) and finishing work (e.g., blockwork, plastering, tiling, painting, joinery, ceilings).
• Verify compliance: Ensure all work, materials, and processes comply with approved drawings, project specifications, and relevant international codes and standards.
• Monitor materials: Verify the quality of incoming materials and check that they are stored correctly. Inspect raw materials used in finishing to ensure they meet job specifications.
• Generate documentation: Prepare daily, weekly, and final quality reports, including inspection requests, test results, and non-conformance reports (NCRs). Maintain a log of all quality-related records.
• Coordinate and communicate: Collaborate with site engineers, subcontractors, and consultants to resolve quality issues, arrange inspections, and ensure project timelines and quality standards are met.
• Manage non-conformities: Label or mark defective items and monitor the implementation and closure of corrective and preventive actions.
• Maintain equipment: Ensure all inspection and measurement tools are properly calibrated and in good working condition.
• Ensure proper packing and labeling: Verify that finished materials are packed correctly to prevent damage during transit and that they have the right labels and markings.

Requirements

• Education: A degree in Civil Engineering is often required or equivalent field.
• Experience: Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of experience in a related quality control role.
• Technical skills: Proficiency with MS Office is necessary, and skills in interpreting engineering drawings are essential. Knowledge of specific areas like AutoCAD, welding, NDT, or coatings can be advantageous.
• Personal attributes: A high degree of attention to detail is crucial for identifying defects and ensuring accuracy. Strong communication skills are also important for reporting issues and coordinating with the team.
