Laser Programmer

FINNS Beach Club is seeking a skilled Laser Programmer to join our Entertainment Department. As a Laser Programmer, you will be responsible for designing, programming, and controlling all segments of the laser show, including beam effects, graphics, 3D animations, audio/video integration, and live show control.

Responsibilities

• Design laser cues and sequences based on show or event concepts using BEYOND or similar software (timeline, cue grid, frame/shape editor, etc.).
• Prepare and program laser hardware and controls (scanners, galvos, output boards like FB4/FB3, ILDA/ArtNet/DMX) to deliver precise effects.
• Integrate laser, video, audio, and lighting elements within BEYOND or other software for seamless multimedia shows.
• Perform projection mapping, calibration, and geometric correction to ensure accurate laser displays.
• Collaborate with the production team (lighting, visuals, audio) to synchronize and operate live performances.
• Troubleshoot software and hardware issues to ensure smooth and reliable show execution.
• Develop and maintain a library of laser effects, graphics, and animations for future use, with proper documentation.
• Ensure compliance with laser safety standards and regulations during setup and operation.

Qualifications

• Minimum education of Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Production Technology, Audio/Visual Engineering, Lighting, Multimedia, or related fields.
• Previous work experience in show/entertainment/live event production, at least 1-2 years, specifically in laser programming or visualization systems.
• Proficiency in using BEYOND (or other software) (cue grid, timeline, frame editor, mapping zones, PangoScript) and understanding of laser control protocols such as DMX, ArtNet, OSC, ILDA.
• Technical skills with laser hardware (scan head, output board, ILDA interface), laser projector settings, and a basic understanding of rigging or laser projection.
• Visual creativity and artistic ability to design attractive laser graphics/animations, as well as attention to detail (lines, colors, speed, shapes).
• Good problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure during preparation or live shows.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work in a team (lighting designer, audio engineer, video operator, event manager).
• Understanding of laser safety and regulations for displaying lasers in public events.
