Job Description

Al-Azhar Asy-Syarif National Plus School is seeking committed and inspiring Homeroom Teachers to guide students in their academic, social, and spiritual development in line with our National Plus and Cambridge-based curriculum. Homeroom Teachers serve as the central figure in class life — managing administration, mentoring students, and acting as a bridge between the school and parents.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise and mentor students in academic, character, and spiritual growth.
• Lead and monitor classroom routines, discipline, and cleanliness.
• Conduct and document daily attendance, health checks, and student records.
• Guide students in prayers (duha, dzuhur, ashar) and moral education.
• Organize class meetings, assemblies, and literacy activities.
• Maintain close communication with parents regarding student progress and concerns.
• Facilitate school events and ensure student participation.
• Manage class administration (attendance, duty rosters, violation logs, iPad/ device usage).
• Mentor student leaders (class president, secretary, treasurer, duty officers).
• Provide personal mentoring (personal approach) and emotional support.
• Participate in curriculum planning and contribute to teaching innovation.
• Act as a professional role model with strong moral ethics and inclusive educational commitment.
• Carry out additional duties assigned by the school relevant to class governance.

Qualifications:

• Minimum Bachelor's degree in Education (any subject specialization is welcome).
• Strong English proficiency (spoken and written); bilingual background highly recommended.
• English proficiency at minimum CEFR B1 level, proven by one of the following official test results:

TOEFL iBT: 42 – 71

TOEFL PBT: 450 – 500

TOEIC (Listening & Reading): 550 – 780

IELTS: 4.0 – 5.0

Cambridge English: B1 Preliminary (PET)

Duolingo English Test: 60 – 85

PTE Academic: 43 – 58

EF SET: 41 – 50

• Familiarity with Cambridge Curriculum or experience in international/ national plus schools is a strong advantage.
• Excellent classroom management, communication, and mentoring skills.
• High commitment to student well-being, character building, and teamwork.
• Previous teaching and homeroom/ class guardian experience preferred.
