Director of Operations – Premier Martial Arts

Our client, Bali's Premier Martial Arts & Fitness Academy, is looking for a Director of Operations to join their dynamic and growing team.

The Director of Operations will oversee the end-to-end management of all operational departments, driving business growth through strategic planning, marketing innovation, and financial excellence. This is a highly hands-on and analytical role, suited for a candidate who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can balance data-driven decision-making with people leadership. The ideal candidate is both a strategic business thinker and an operational executor, with strong capabilities in marketing, finance, and team leadership. You will analyse program performance, identify the most profitable areas, and reallocate resources effectively to improve efficiency, margins, and customer experience.

Requirements:

• Open to local or expat candidates.
• Minimum 12 years of professional experience, including at least 2 years as a General Manager or Director-level leader in fitness, hospitality, or lifestyle businesses.
• Proven experience building and scaling operations, especially during expansion or multi-site growth.
• Strong understanding of financial management, including P&L analysis, cost control, and budgeting.
• Demonstrated success in leading marketing and brand growth initiatives, ideally in fitness sectors.
• Experience designing or improving training programs and operational workflows.
• Excellent interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills with the ability to inspire teams and stakeholders.
• Strategic mindset with a hands-on, data-driven, and results-oriented approach.
• Strong organisational and analytical skills, with keen attention to detail.
• Fluency in English (both written and verbal).
• Based in Bali or willing to relocate.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee the seamless daily operations of multiple departments, including gym and training teams.
• Develop and refine operational systems and SOPs to ensure efficiency, quality, and service excellence across all centres.
• Establish KPIs for all departments, monitor performance, and implement data-driven improvements.
• Ensure smooth coordination between departments and consistent service standards for all members and guests.
• Supervise recruitment, onboarding, and training to maintain a motivated and high-performing team.
• Track and manage P&L per program to identify the most profitable services and allocate resources accordingly.
• Analyse operational data to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance overall profitability.
• Prepare and present regular financial and operational reports to management.
• Lead pricing, budgeting, and forecasting efforts aligned with business goals.
• Drive strategies that balance operational excellence with financial performance and growth.
• Lead and oversee all marketing initiatives, moving from word-of-mouth to structured campaigns (digital, local partnerships, events, and influencer collaborations).
• Work closely with marketing and creative teams to design campaigns that highlight programs, trainers, and community events.
• Identify emerging fitness trends and incorporate new training programs.
• Strengthen brand presence across Bali and the region by positioning the centre as a premier martial arts and fitness academy destination.
• Build and nurture strategic partnerships to drive memberships and corporate collaborations.
• Foster a collaborative, accountable, and performance-driven work culture.
• Act as a bridge between operational teams and senior leadership, ensuring alignment with company goals and vision.
