Job Overview

The Construction Senior Superintendent position demands a comprehensive understanding of Construction principles, leadership in workforce management, and familiarity with a broad range of disciplines including compliance, risk management, and logistics. The Construction Senior Superintendent must leverage extensive industry experience to enhance productivity, mentor others, influence company-wide processes and policies for workforce management, and resolve multifaceted technical, operational, and organizational issues that affect project delivery and success.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic oversight and direction for multiple construction projects within the fabrication discipline to ensure they align with organizational goals and client expectations
  • Champion a culture of safety excellence, ensuring that all projects adhere to the highest HSE standards and practices, and fostering a zero-accident work environment
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other senior staff to optimize construction processes, sequencing, and resource allocation
  • Ensure that all aspects of the construction process, including workmanship and materials, comply with stringent quality assurance and control standards
  • Manage and mentor a team of construction superintendents and other construction personnel, promoting leadership development and operational best practices
  • Oversee the preparation and submission of detailed project reports, maintaining accurate records for compliance, auditing, and historical data purposes
  • Lead by example to instill a sense of accountability, professionalism, and dedication within the construction team
  • Manage the cooperation of the other disciplines since he should have basic knowledge of all of them and, as per common practice, is called to answer as the main person in the project from production point of view
  • Discuss the planning of the activities for the next 8 weeks and assign the people based on that creating and MLF, merged with the other disciplines that serves the project, that could bring productivity to 1 or above
  • Discuss and approve with Engineering the erection sequence and the constructability of the projects
  • Participate in Yard layout meeting and support the General Superintendent to maintain an updated layout with proactiveness on its optimization
  • Own and lead the implementation, enforcement, and verification of compliance with all McDermott policies and procedures
  • Ensure employees understand their responsibility and authority to effectively implement the requirements of all McDermott policies and procedures
  • Ensure the timely completion of all mandatory training by themselves and their teams

Essential Qualifications and Education

  • Advanced degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field, with additional professional certifications highly regarded
  • Extensive experience in the construction industry, with a significant portion in a leadership capacity, managing large-scale and complex fabrication projects
  • Comprehensive knowledge of modern construction methodologies, equipment, and best practices specific to the fabrication sector
  • Proven track record of effective HSE management, with advanced safety qualifications preferred
  • Exceptional leadership and communication skills, with the ability to inspire, manage, and coordinate large teams and multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong analytical and decisive problem-solving skills, with the aptitude to navigate complex project challenges
  • Ability to adapt to evolving project requirements, work in various locations, and commit to irregular hours when necessary
  • Must have experience in at least two subsea fabrication projects
