Job Summary:

As an Expansion Legal Counsel, you will be part of the client's Expansion team, ensuring that all our development projects - from new store openings to sustainability initiatives - comply with local and global legal standards. You will play a key role in balancing business growth with legal safety and efficiency.

Responsibilities:

  • Assess legal feasibility for openings, closings, relocations, and other expansion projects.
  • Collect required documents, identify legal risks, and provide clear recommendations.
  • Work with expansion, construction, finance, and operations teams to ensure compliance with Decathlon's real estate policies.
  • Propose optimal deal structures and solutions to mitigate legal risks (zoning, permits, contracts, timing).
  • Draft and review contracts, LOIs, POAs, and related documents.
  • Support negotiations to secure favorable and compliant agreements.
  • Ensure legal documents comply with internal decisions and are properly registered.
  • Maintain accurate and compliant project documentation.
  • Collaborate with global and local legal teams to share best practices.

Requirements:

  • Fluent in English and Bahasa Indonesia (spoken and written).
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in Law.
  • 5+ years of experience in corporate, real estate, or in-house legal roles.
  • Strong understanding of commercial contracts, property law, and licensing regulations.
  • Proven ability to provide practical legal advice for deal structuring, permitting, and risk mitigation.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proactive, detail-oriented, and able to balance business and legal considerations.
  • Based in Jakarta.
