The ideal candidate will be responsible for working with senior management to develop financial strategies for the organization. You are comfortable handling large amounts of data, acting as a business partner, decision maker, and providing regular financial reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement finance processes, policies, and controls suitable for a start-up.
  • Act as a 'subject matter expert' in your area of expertise, sharing that knowledge with your team and colleagues.
  • Ensure you continue to develop your knowledge and stay up-to-date with relevant accounting standards, market trends, and competitor activity.
  • Act as an advocate for the company, promoting it internally and externally, including managing finance-related content on social media.

Job Description:

  • Set up and manage accounting systems and processes from scratch.
  • Oversee day-to-day financial operations, including bookkeeping, invoicing, payments, and payroll.
  • Create and monitor company policies and internal controls, especially spending controls, to safeguard company assets and reduce fraud.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements and analysis for senior management and investors.
  • Ensure any reports or other requirements from group management or franchisers are provided in a timely manner.
  • Develop cash flow forecasts and monitor liquidity to ensure business sustainability.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning, adapting quickly to changing business needs.
  • Lead financial modelling for new restaurant openings, investment proposals, and funding rounds.
  • Control and evaluate the organization's fundraising and capital structure.
  • Ensure compliance with local tax, legal, and regulatory requirements.
  • Liaise with external accountants, auditors, banks, and suppliers.
  • Implement cost controls and identify opportunities for efficiency and savings.
  • Support the management team with ad hoc financial analysis and decision support.
  • Manage all aspects of financial reporting, budgeting, and cash management.
  • Support fundraising activities, including preparation of financial information for investors.
  • Monitor and report on key financial KPIs relevant to a start-up (e.g., runway, burn rate, unit economics).
  • Ensure robust controls to safeguard assets and prevent fraud.

Qualifications

  • University degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (essential)
  • Professional certification (e.g., ACCA, CPA) desirable but not essential
  • Experience in start-up or fast-growth environments preferred
  • Ability to support fundraising and investor relations
