Teacher of Design (Computer Science) Start Date: August 2026 Contract Type: Full Time, Fixed Term About the School We are recruiting for a highly regarded international school in Indonesia, located on an impressive 44-acre campus in the vibrant city of Jakarta. The curriculum begins with the UK Early Years Foundation Stage, progresses through the English National Curriculum and inquiry-based learning in Primary, and continues into the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP), Diploma Programme (DP), and Career-related Programme (CP) in Secondary. Design and technology play an important role in preparing students to think critically, solve problems, and engage confidently with digital and technological systems. The Role Following an increase in student enrolment, the school is seeking a Teacher of Design (Computer Science) to join the Secondary faculty from August 2026. This role offers the opportunity to teach Computer Science across the IB continuum, contributing to both the Middle Years Programme and the Diploma Programme. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to teach IB Diploma Computer Science at Standard and Higher Level, alongside delivering inquiry- and concept-based learning within the MYP. There is also an expectation that the teacher will contribute enthusiastically to Year 7 and Year 8, as part of the schools future Middle Years initiative. In addition to teaching responsibilities, the role includes acting as a form tutor within the Secondary School (Years 7–13), supporting students academic progress, wellbeing, and personal development. Key Responsibilities The Teacher of Design (Computer Science) will plan and deliver engaging, concept-driven lessons aligned with IB philosophy, supporting students in developing computational thinking, problem-solving skills, and technical competence. Teaching will include programming, systems thinking, and the ethical use of technology, tailored appropriately across age ranges and programmes. The role involves assessing student progress using a range of formative and summative strategies, providing clear and constructive feedback, and supporting students through internal assessments and external examination preparation at Diploma level. The successful candidate will work collaboratively within the Design and Technology faculty and across the Secondary School, contributing to curriculum planning, moderation, and professional dialogue. Participation in enrichment activities and co-curricular initiatives is encouraged, particularly in areas related to computing, coding, or digital innovation. Experience teaching robotics, particularly VEX, would be a distinct advantage. Candidate Profile Applicants should hold a relevant degree in Computer Science, Computing, or a related discipline, along with a recognised teaching qualification such as a PGCE or equivalent. Experience teaching IB Diploma Computer Science is highly desirable, as is familiarity with IB MYP inquiry- and concept-based pedagogy. The school is seeking a teacher with strong subject knowledge, excellent classroom practice, and the ability to engage and challenge students across a range of abilities. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, a collaborative approach, and enthusiasm for working in an international school environment are essential.
