**About the Role**

Data Scientists want to spend their time exploring data, crafting the right features, and optimizing their modelsso far so good. Production requires a lot more though. What about the data pipelines? Scaling up infrastructure based on demand? Running experiments at scale? Feature data consistency? This is where you come in as a Principal Engineer for Gojek’s ML platform.

Most companies embed ML engineers in data science teams to solve these problems. We do things a little differently at Gojek. We build self-service products for data scientists so they don’t have to worry about deep engineering problems. Create your model and submit it to us, our platform will scale it up/down for you.

You will be joining a team that has already built industry-leading open-source tools. Feast was invented by our team and is now used by companies like Twitter and Shopify. MLOps is changing fast, we’re looking for engineers who are keen to build the next big thing in MLOps.

**What Will You Do**:

- You will develop a capability in our ML platform suite - we will work with you to find the best fit. This could be either our feature store, model deployment, ML experimentation, or a completely new capability.
- Collaborate with data scientists and internal product management to propose features on our ML platform roadmap.
- Own development of individual features for a product by proposing your solution architecture and building it incorporating engineering best practices.
- Contribute to technical discussions with the DSP team on the evolution of our various products. Work together with DSP Product Managers to unify our products under the ML Platform vision.
- Be actively involved in team development and growth with more junior engineers. Participate in recruitment and interviews to attract new talent.
- Continue to stay abreast of the latest technologies in the MLOps space to inform the right choice between build vs buy. Suggest new technologies and best practices to trial.

**What You Will Need**:

- Past experience in building and operating software systems. Past experience with high-scale systems is a big plus.
- Keen understanding of modern Agile, Site Reliability Engineering, and MLOps practices.
- We use Google Cloud, Kubernetes, Terraform, and Spark extensively. Our primary languages are Go and Python. Deep knowledge in one or more of these areas and familiarity with others is expected.
- Basic knowledge of Machine Learning concepts will help you collaborate with data scientists.
- We love high ownership role experiences like startups or small product teams in larger companies.
- Bias to getting things done over bureaucracy - we’re a small team (12 people) that builds mission-critical software. We trust each other to make the right call and do everything possible to help us move fast.
- Experience managing business and engineering stakeholders, as well as roadmap or OKR planning.
- Strong communicator and relationship builder. Experience working in multinational, multicultural companies.
- Ability to transition from high-level strategic thinking to creative and detailed execution. Product development experience is a plus.
