Job summary
Would you like to be part of a Public Policy team that is driving the adoption of cloud computing in Indonesia? Do you have the government affairs and technology policy experience necessary to help further advance Amazon Web Services (AWS)* as a leading cloud platform provider for the public sector in Indonesia?
- Familiarize oneself with all aspects of the AWS public sector business in Indonesia and build up comprehensive knowledge of AWS services and use cases;
- In coordination with global, regional, and national Public Policy team members, develop, lead, and implement AWS’ public policy advocacy strategy for the public sector in Indonesia;
- Create external messaging and narratives on AWS’ public sector policy priorities, such as on Cloud First/Native policy approaches, whole-of-government agreements, cloud procurement processes, etc.;
- Work with AWS Public Sector teams and relevant internal stakeholders to proactively build and advance relationships with key policymakers, IT decision makers, and executives in government ministries and agencies;
- Support the drafting and submission of AWS’ policy position papers and represent the views of AWS before governments, regulatory, and legislative bodies;
- Build up relationships with respective regional industry and trade associations, inter-governmental agencies, academia, and other partners and drive direct and indirect engagements to promote Cloud First/Native policies and cloud adoption in the Indonesia public sector;
- Drive long term strategic thinking and thought leadership in the public sector policy space;
- Assess and communicate potential regulatory blockers, risks, and public sector business opportunities, develop risk mitigation strategies and policy positions, and align external advocacy efforts and outreach programs with AWS’ public sector business objectives;
- Facilitate high-level meetings between AWS executives and key stakeholders, including senior government officials, regulators, industry associations and partners to promote and advocate the company’s policy priorities.

The role will be based in Jakarta.
- Highly effective oral, written and interpersonal communication skills; demonstrated ability to effectively and comfortably interact at highest corporate and political levels.
- Excellent knowledge of, and background in, advocacy and public policy developments as they relate to technology and the public sector.
- Previous advocacy experience with cloud or IT procurement; whole-of-government agreements; national/local government IT and data management reforms; digital government initiatives; information security; and/or regulatory requirements for cloud use in the public sector.
- Ability to maintain the highest personal levels of ethical conduct, confidentiality, and integrity, with a strong professional reputation in the industry.
- A self-starter with a proven track record of successfully working with a wide array of functional groups and cultures across an organization.
- Ability to identify and understand key technical aspects in legislative and regulatory proposals, understand business implications, and synthesize policy documents for internal and external stakeholders.
- Excellent political acumen and decision-making skills even in ambiguous situations, including the ability to balance different perspectives and inputs, and exercise flexibility and good judgment.
- Collaborative, with the ability to build and foster effective relationships and network with others.
- Inquisitive and enthusiastic about technology, and enjoys working hard and being continually challenged.
