**Description**
We help clients in the private sector, governments, international space agencies, international finance institutions, and non-government organizations with scientific and strategic consulting and data analytics using satellite, LiDAR, and UAV remote sensing technologies in conjunction with other environmental and socio-economic data.
The GIS Specialist will provide technical expertise for the implementation, design, and management of remote sensing and geomatics projects in Indonesia and ASEAN. The Geomatics group provides technical services to internal project teams and projects, as well as for external clients in the private, government, and international development sectors. The GIS Specialist is expected to make significant contributions to the success of Hatfield’s strategy in delivering remote sensing products and services to clients in sectors including climate change, mining, oil and gas, renewable energy, forestry, infrastructure and international development. Travel may be required to support projects.

The GIS Specialist reports to the Geomatics Manager.
**Responsibilities**:
- Provide technical leadership in implementing remote sensing and geomatics projects and services.
- Design, test, and implement innovative workflows for acquisition, processing, and analysis of large time-series satellite remote sensing datasets.
- Develop workflows to integrate remote sensing data and products with other data sets from multiple sources.
- Design validation experiments and compare measured results with ground truth data.
- Perform fieldwork as required for collection of project data.
- Organize and manage data collected in the field, and ensure all data are carefully stored and safely transported to head office office in Bogor.
- Ensure projects are completed on time and on budget while striving to achieve the highest possible level of quality control on all outputs, documents, and maps produced.
- Communicate clearly with non-technical environmental specialists regarding requirements.
- Lead and contribute to technical proposals and reports.
**Education and Experience**:
- At least five years of experience in the use and operation of ArcGIS for Desktop and ArcGIS for Server.
- Experience with a wide variety of remote sensing data sets (e.g. LiDAR, UAV, Sentinel-2, Landsat, and SAR) to conduct image analysis to deliver information to clients.
- Experience in processing and analyzing imagery with GIS and remote sensing software such as PCI Geomatica, ArcGIS, QGIS, and SNAP.
- Experienced in using Python packages like NumPy, SciPy, Pandas, Matplotlib, or similar lipackages in R programming environment like dplyr, ggplot, or randomForest.
- Familiarity with Linux environments.
- Ability to communicate regularly, professionally, and clearly at general, technical and management levels to inform team members, science teams and the science user community.
- Management of small to medium sized technical projects.
- Technical report and proposal writing.
- Problem-solving and ability to analyze requirements and recommend solutions.
- Strong attention to organization, detail, and record keeping.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including effective questioning, listening, and presentation skills.
- Experience in a consulting environment will be an advantage.
- Ability/interest to work in the field, occasionally in remote locations (preferred).
- Problem-solving skills and ability to analyze a case or situation and recommend solutions.
- General computer skills (MS Office suite).
- Self-starter with an ability to multi-task.
