**The PROAKTIF Program**
Poverty Alleviation and Comprehensive, Inclusive and Adaptive Social Protection (PROAKTIF) is a three-year partnership between the Government of Australia and the Government of Indonesia, to strengthen Indonesia’s social protection policies and systems. A central feature of the program is that it provides support to the Policy Support Team for Society Welfare (preceded by TNP2K Policy Team) which provides evidence-based policy advice and coordination across a range of GoI ministries and agencies. This longstanding partnership has contributed to Australia and Indonesia’s joint goals to address poverty and inequality and reduce barriers to inclusive economic growth. PROAKTIF has two outcomes, first, to facilitate Policy Support Team for Society Welfare in making an effective contribution to reforming and improving poverty alleviation programs; and second, to optimize the Policy Support Team’s performance, including in the promotion of gender equality, disability and social inclusion (GEDSI) and performance monitoring.

**The Role**
This internship provides a dynamic learning opportunity for graduates to gain an understanding of policy research and data analysis relevant to social protection and poverty alleviation through a 6-months experience in the Policy Support Team. Five intern positions have been created reporting to technical units in the Policy Support Team including: Policy Advocacy and Partnerships Unit, Economic Capacity Improvement Unit, Research, Development and Data Management Unit and Monitoring and Evaluation unit.

Interns will gain hands-on experience in conducting background research and analysis including collecting, reviewing and analysing secondary data from various sources and review literature to support policy reforms, programming and budgeting relevant to poverty alleviation. Interns will contribute to developing policy briefs, academic papers, presentations and reports and other relevant research. They will develop skills in reviewing and updating policy and programming documents and materials to support implementation including handbooks, guidelines. Interns may be engaged in primary data collection and analysis to support the work of the Policy Support Team.

They will also be engaged in supporting the Policy Support Team with organization of meetings and events. Interns will have an opportunity to enhance their understanding of poverty alleviation, social protection and economic empowerment policies including gaining an understanding of key challenges and best practices in both national and international contexts. copy paste it to access the full Terms of Reference for this position:

**About You**
Preferred Qualifications:

- Fresh graduate or final year student in economics/social science/statistics/Public Policy/Sociology.
- Familiar with data collection, analysis and presentation, including knowledge of data analysis tools (Excel, SPSS, STATA, etc.).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including word processor and power point.
- Excellent written and spoken Bahasa Indonesia.
- High quality English, spoken and written, is an advantage.

**Experience**:

- Strong analytical skills and experiences in research and/or academic/voluntary work in the related area(s) considered an advantage
- An interest in poverty alleviation and social protection is desirable
- Experience in fostering coordination and organising events is an asset.
- Proactive approach and ability to work in collaboration with others.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Ability to perform a variety of administrative tasks.
- Knowledge of M&E concepts/Indonesian Microdata (e.g., Susenas, Sakernas, VIMK, IFLS)/local governance policy is advantageous.
