The Head Hostess is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the restaurant's front desk, managing guest seating, ensuring a welcoming atmosphere, and supervising a team of hostesses. The role requires excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills to deliver high-quality guest experiences and maintain the flow of service.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- **Guest Reception & Seating**:
- Greet guests promptly and warmly as they arrive.
- Manage reservations and walk-in guests, ensuring seating arrangements are made efficiently.
- Guide guests to their tables, ensuring a smooth flow of seating while minimizing wait times.
- Address guest concerns or special requests and ensure satisfaction.
- **Team Supervision**:
- Lead and supervise the hostess team, ensuring each team member is performing their duties effectively.
- Provide training and support to new hostesses on customer service, seating procedures, and restaurant policies.
- Assign duties to hostesses and monitor their performance throughout the shift.
- **Reservation Management**:
- Monitor and confirm reservations, ensuring that tables are prepared and ready in time for guest arrival.
- Maintain an organized waitlist during peak hours and communicate wait times to guests clearly.
- **Customer Service**:
- Ensure that guests have an exceptional experience from the moment they arrive until they leave.
- Handle complaints or issues in a professional and timely manner, escalating as needed.
- Maintain a positive, courteous, and professional attitude at all times.
- **Communication & Coordination**:
- Coordinate with servers, kitchen staff, and management to ensure smooth operations.
- Communicate guest preferences, special requests, or any other relevant information to the service team.
- Assist with guest departures, thanking them for visiting and encouraging them to return.
- **Operational Efficiency**:
- Monitor guest traffic and adjust seating assignments as necessary to ensure maximum table turnover and a balanced workload for servers.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the host stand and waiting areas.
- Oversee the management of the reservation system and ensure that records are up to date.
- **Health & Safety Compliance**:
- Ensure that health, safety, and cleanliness standards are met in all areas of front-of-house operations.
- Follow restaurant protocols regarding food safety, sanitation, and guest privacy.
